HOW AWFUL! GOP Lawmakers Vote to Remove Steve King From ALL COMMITTEE POSTS Over COMPLETE LIE by NY Times

    January 14, 2019

    Jim Hoft

THEY DID NOT EVEN INVESTIGATE THE REPORT!

They just tossed Rep. King off of all committees over a COMPLETE LIE by the liberal media!

Republican lawmakers voted to remove Rep. Steve King from all of his committee assignments this session.

And it was all based on Fake News by The New York Times.

    As reported earlier….

On Thursday The New York Timespublished a hit piece on Rep. Steve King (R-IA) and Trump voters.

Reporter Trip Gabriel published the piece.

“Before Trump, Steve King Set the Agenda for the Wall and Anti-Immigrant Politics”

This quote by Rep. King is what got the most attention. According to reporter Gabriel, Steve reportedly said,

“White nationalist, white supremacist, Western civilization — how did that language become offensive?” Mr. King said. “Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?”

Of course, this caused an uproar in Washington and on all of the liberal networks — as you would expect if it were true.

King was lambasted by the media and political class for defending “white supremacy.” Democrats called to remove him from all congressional committees.

Republican lawmakers discussed the possibility of disciplinary action. And, of course, Trump-hating Republicans immediately called for Steve to be censured.

Rep. King released a statement on Friday:

Rep. King is obviously very upset overThe New York Times report.

We spoke with Steve on Sunday.

On Monday Rep. Steve King sent The Gateway Pundit a statement for publication.

The accusations by the media were outrageous and simply incorrect.
Here is Rep. Steve King’s statement.

One of my quotes in a New York Times story has been completely mischaracterized. Here’s the context I believe accurately reflects my statement.

In a 56 minute interview, we discussed the changing use of language in political discourse. We discussed the worn out label “racist” and my observation that other slanderous labels have been increasingly assigned to Conservatives by the Left, who injected into our current political dialog such terms as Nazi, Fascist, “ White Nationalist, White Supremacist,— Western Civilization, how did THAT language become offensive? Why did I sit in classes teaching me about the merits of our history and our civilization?”…just to watch Western Civilization become a derogatory term in political discourse today. Clearly, I was only referencing Western Civilization classes. No one ever sat in a class listening to the merits of white nationalism and white supremacy.

When I used the word “THAT” it was in reference ONLY to Western Civilization and NOT to any previously stated evil ideology ALL of which I have denounced.

My record as a vocal advocate for Western Civilization is nearly as full as my record in defense of Freedom of Speech.

Rep. Steve King NEVER made the statements as reported by the liberal media.

The accusations are outrageous. But the truth does not matter.

House GOP Strips Rep. Steve King of Committee Assignments

    January 14, 2019

House GOP leaders moved Monday to remove Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, from all of his committee assignments in the wake of racially fueled remarks, The Hill reported.

According to The Hill, House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif. — who vowed Sunday "action will be taken" in response to King's comments — told reporters after a meeting of the Republican Steering Committee that King would not receive any committee assignments for the new Congress.

King had been a member of the House Judiciary, Agriculture and Small Business committees. He had also served as chairman of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice in the last Congress, and could have stood to serve as its ranking member under the Democratic majority, The Hill reported.

Denying King committee assignments severely limits his influence in Congress, The Hill noted — pointing out the Agriculture Committee, in particular, is considered a prime spot for lawmakers who represent states with agricultural industries.
"We will not be seating Steve King on any committees in the 116th Congress," McCarthy told reporters.

King has insisted his remarks were taken out of context and criticized McCarthy's decision, The Hill reported.

"Leader McCarthy's decision to remove me from committees is a political decision that ignores the truth," King said in a statement.
He made no indication he plans to resign because of the firestorm.

"Ultimately, I told him 'You have to do what you have to do, and I will do what I have to do.' I will continue to point out the truth and work with all the vigor that I have to represent 4th District Iowans for at least the next two years," King said, The Hill reported.

"When I used the word 'THAT' it was in reference ONLY to Western Civilization and NOT to any previously stated evil ideology ALL of which I have denounced. My record as a vocal advocate for Western Civilization is nearly as full as my record in defense of Freedom of Speech."

House Democrats are expected to put a resolution introduced by Majority Whip James Clyburn, S.C., on the floor for a vote Tuesday to formally disapprove of King's remarks, The Hill reported.

Two other House Democrats unveiled resolutions earlier Monday to censure King.

Why have those involved in the HUSH Slush Abuse Payoffs that used taxpayer dollars not been identified and removed from their positions on any committees?

What a travesty. Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) just won his ninth term. Obviously his constituents support him. Those are the folks he represents and answers to!
