Drive-by injures four
The Fresno County Sheriff's Department is asking for help in identifying whoever is responsible for a drive-by shooting Saturday in which four juveniles were injured.
The shooting took place just before 10 p.m. at a party near 11th and J streets in Orange Cove, spokesman Chris Curtice said.
Arriving deputies found three female juveniles who had been shot.
One victim, 15, was shot in the stomach. Another 15-year-old was shot in the left ankle and a 12-year-old was hit in the ankle. All three were taken to Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno with injuries that were not life-threatening.
During the investigation, a fourth victim was located at a residence on the 1200 block of H Street. The victim, a 17-year-old male, was shot in the right calf. The resulting wound was not life-threatening.
Drugs lead to couple's arrest
A Laton couple was booked into Fresno County Jail on numerous narcotics charges, the Fresno County Sheriff's Department reported Monday.
Jose Juan Gonzalez, 28, and Maribel Hernandez Gonzalez, 27, were arrested Friday after deputies went to their home on the 5900 block of East Latonia Avenue to arrest Gonzalez on several outstanding narcotics arrest warrants, sheriff's spokesman Chris Curtice said.
While taking him into custody, deputies discovered several red baggies, all of which were partially filled with methamphetamine, Curtice said. Further investigation revealed narcotics paraphernalia that included pipes, digital scales and glass vials, several more packages of methamphetamine ready to be sold and a ballistic vest.
In addition to the original narcotics warrants, Jose Gonzalez was booked on charges of possessing methamphetamine, possessing narcotics for sale, possessing narcotics paraphernalia, endangering the health of a child and a probation violation.
Maribel Gonzalez was booked on possessing methamphetamine, possessing narcotics for sale, possessing narcotics paraphernalia, endangering the health of a child and obstructing an officer.
Suspected drug dealers held
Fresno police arrested two men over the weekend who they believe to be midlevel drug dealers suspected of transporting and selling heroin, crystal methamphetamine and cocaine to gang members and drug dealers in northwest Fresno, Sgt. Timothy Tietjen said.
Jesus Pineda, 20, was stopped near Blackstone and Ashlan avenues on Saturday and arrested for possession of a quarter-pound of meth for sale, Tietjen said.
Favio Rios, 24, was stopped near Belmont and Fruit avenues and arrested on suspicion of possessing 70 grams of meth and 16 grams of rock cocaine packaged for sale.
