The stunning hypocrisy of the de Blasio administration

She can blame the media until she turns blue — but Rachel Noerdlinger is responsible for thrusting her own teenage son into the spotlight.

How did we, the media, learn her son’s name? It wasn’t during some anti-progressive witch hunt. It was when the duplicitous Noerdlinger named him in an application for a residency waiver, spinning a tale about how the teen — so strapping and healthy that he was playing high-school football at the time — was hobbled by a pair of car accidents and needed to be near his doctors.
She was then allowed to live in New Jersey with her felon boyfriend instead of New York City, The Post revealed in an exclusive story.
Before that, not a clue about the kid.

And when it comes to putting children in the cross hairs, the mayor is far from blameless. He prostituted his own family in campaign TV commercials.

He claimed a nice victory off his son’s Afro.

He later had his daughter go public — PUBLIC! — with her battles with depression and substance abuse.

And now, this pair of shameless ideological twins are blaming us for exploiting their families.

In press statements released Monday, the two trashed the media for targeting Noerdlinger’s son and boyfriend in the hope of taking down de Blasio’s crumbling administration.

The hypocrisy is stunning. On Planet de Blasio, one’s kin make for acceptable collateral damage — provided that they’re used to win something that the mayor and a best pal wants.

Noerdlinger, 44, the right-hand woman for the city’s first lady, Chirlane McCray, announced Monday that she was taking aleave of absence (thankfully unpaid) “to spend more time with my son.’’

“I can handle criticism and scrutiny of me, even when it’s mean-spirited,’’ she said in a clueless statement. “But increasingly, my son has been subjected to attacks that have nothing to do with the public interest, and everything to do with derailing this administration.”

    The administration? Seriously?

Dealing with her son is something she should have done years ago, before he wa sarrested for trespassing — when Khari, 17, first started acting out and emulating Noerdlinger’s live-in boyfriend, Hassaun McFarlan.

De Blasio, at an unrelated news conference, also lashed out at the media and assorted foes for taking down his friend, who made $170,000 a year of taxpayer money working for his unelected wife.

The once self-described Democratic socialist compared Noerdlinger’s self-inflicted travails to the torment inflicted on . . . Communists! “We saw this inflicted in the 1950s,’’ he ranted, apparently referring to the hunts by the late Sen. Joseph McCarthy.
“We’ve seen this throughout the history of this country.’’

    Paranoid much?

He ignored the fact that it was the doting mom who introduced us to young Khari in the first place — with the waiver request to live in the Garden State after claiming that Khari suffered devastating injuries in two 2012 car crashes. But the car wrecks did not prevent the young man, who stands 6 feet, 1 inch tall and weighs 215 pounds, from playing linebacker last season with his high-school football team.

De Blasio put his son, Dante, daughter, Chiara, and wife front and center in his campaign. So for him to claim that putting the spotlight on family members is out of line is self-serving lunacy.

So I beg of Rachel Noerdlinger: Take care of your son. De Blasio would also be wise to stop blaming others.

After all, Khari Noerdlinger never asked to be dragged into his mother’s troubles.

    Play now
City Hall officials on Monday confirmed Rachel Noerdlinger, a longtime top aide to reverend Al Sharpton, will serve as chief of staff to first lady Chirlane McCray. NY1's Zack Fink filed the following report.

For now, First Lady Chirlane McCray has a publicly-paid chief of staff, but no staff to supervise. It's also unclear what McCray's exact role will be in City Hall.

What does seem clear is that by hiring a close confidante of activist Al Sharpton, it's a testament to how far his influence has come in City Hall. Rudolph Giuliani wouldn't even meet with Sharpton while he was mayor.

"Mayor Giuliani was absolutely wrong to not meet with Rev. Al Sharpton. And by the way he wouldn't meet with the Manhattan Borough President Virginia Fields. It's just not the way you are supposed to govern," de Blasio said.
It's also a reminder that the mayor and the first lady say they make many of their decisions as a team, something that supporters have pointed to as an asset.

"We need a city that is led by this couple that has been so committed for so long to making this one city," Sharpton said.
De Blasio and his wife were with Sharpton in Harlem to celebrate the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. At an earlier event in Brooklyn, the theme of a partnership between the first couple was made into a joke during their introduction.

"I'm going to now bring on the leader of the City of New York. And she happens to be married to the mayor of the City of New York: Chirlane and Mayor Bill de Blasio," said Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.

Noerdlinger, who will make $170,000 per year, praised her work with Sharpton.

"For 15 years I have been honored to stand by your side Reverend Sharpton and the National Action Network and the work we have done in the name of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. for civil rights and social justice has been nothing short of historic," Noerdlinger.

For now, Mayor de Blasio declined to offer any specifics about what specific role the first lady will be playing in the city government. He says more announcements on that subject would be forthcoming in the days and weeks to come.
