How the LAPD-Media-Complex Hijacked America For a Week to Murder an Enemy

    Bernie Suarez
    Activist Post

It seems for one whole week that the mainstream media carefully coordinated with the powers-that-be at LAPD a planned vigilante murder of Christopher Dorner. Like a Hollywood script rehearsed so many times by the usual mainstream media teleprompter and talking points reading monkeys, this event seemed to have started and finished in Hollywood style.

At this point all we can do is stand back at amazement of the deadly vigilante-style execution of Dorner and the mainstream media acceptance of his murder without even going as far as questioning the corrupt and wildly bizarre LAPD behavior in this Hollywood story of vengeance.

Beware America for there are many lessons to be learned in the Chris Dorner story.

    A. Police corruption is not to be exposed for the consequences are severe.

    B. Police will use the corporate controlled media to accomplish their agenda.

    C. Police and media don’t feel compelled to provide actual proof of their claims.

    D. Los Angeles is no longer a safe place for good people who believe in reporting corruption.

    E. The LAPD is now officially a gang of thugs that operate above the law.

    F. The LAPD has the power to command the corporate mainstream media as to what they are allowed to record and cover, thus giving themselves exclusive control over possible criticism and exposure of corruption within their department.

    G. The LAPD does not care for, respect or abide by the Constitution of the United States which grants every single American the right to a trial by a jury of their peers. Dorner wanted to be given that chance to expose their corruption and tell his story and was denied that right. Vigilante-style retribution is simply not part of the American Way and the Constitution.

    H. The LAPD is on tape caught red handed planning the execution of Mr. Dorner and this recording is on record.

    I. The LAPD reputation is destroyed, corruption seemingly beyond control and the department is in serious need of purging.

    J. At any given time anyone can end up in a Christopher Dorner-like situation. That is, a person who attempts to expose corruption, falls out of grace with their boss, is subsequently fired and persecuted when allegations are charged to that person whether true or false. Even if Dorner committed the murders they claim, that does not make him less deserving of a fair trial. The fact of the matter is we will never know and the LAPD provided zero proof in a court of law to prove their claims.

A big part of America died this week when the LAPD appointed themselves the judge, jury and executioners of Dorner. Somehow it feels like a part of the Constitution died as well and the New World Order plans advanced when Dorner was murdered. America’s consciousness was jolted as the nation watched in horror at the LAPD WACO-style execution with the mainstream media puppets accepting their orders not to cover the execution.

Is there anyone not asking the basic question; "How can this happen in America?" Where is the outrage within the department or at the city level? Where is the media criticism of this murder? How can America allow this to happen without losing a large part of its own integrity and history?

The Chris Dorner story will forever be remembered as the week that the LAPD-Media Complex hijacked the consciousness of America and used it to justify murder and revenge. This was 2013’s version of the Bin Laden Hoax murder celebration. It seems American media is making it a habit to celebrate the death of certain people when they feel they have presented enough propaganda to sensationalize and justify the murder. Such is the nature of our slippery road to tyranny.

The same kill-and-shoot-first attitude the LAPD displayed all week in their manhunt for their personal enemy will forever burn in our memories. The LAPD managed to instill fear in the back of most people’s minds as we all wondered, what if they "think" I’m Christopher Dorner? It should concern everyone that this now officially lawless entity is running around freely with guns throughout the city able to pull anyone over and harass without answering to anyone.

Los Angeles has a problem, as does the entire United States, and I only hope that Americans everywhere will heed the warning codes hidden in the Chris Dorner execution story. There is a message in this story for everyone. May this event do something to wake up more people to the corruption and darkness that we face: the global government mafia that has permeated government at the local level and now threatens freedom, democracy and individualism at every level.

    Recovery and Strength

If you want to renew your energy to fight for America, freedom, goodness, integrity, honesty, transparency, justice, courage, honor, truth and democracy please recall and realize that things will get much worse before they get better; also remember that for every evil deed perpetrated by those who hate, some force equal and opposite is generated somewhere. I believe it is a law of nature; when evil abides, good is able to shine more brightly.

It is not difficult to see that fascism and evil is seeking a free-for-all on humanity. The oppression that America saw unleashed on the Occupy movement was just the tip of the iceberg. Things can and will likely get much worse . . . so hang on to truth and justice, say no to fear, yes to love and compassion, and let your light shine as brightly as possible. Remember that the opposite of fear is love and love knows no fear. Use these basic laws of nature as your guiding light in times like these.

Chris Dorner: Crazed Killer, Innocent Hero or Neither?

    Ruth Hull
    Activist Post

It is not surprising Chris Dorner is an enigma, representing different things to different people, given that the press has failed to present an accurate picture. Readers are forced to sift through enormous amounts of false information that has been published and broadcast on the man in order to get any clue as to who and what he was.

    photos by Ruth Hull

Any honest comparison of the two manifestos makes it obvious that the longer version was not written by the same person who put up the original manifesto (supposedly written by Dorner). Unfortunately, unethical publishers and television networks prefer the sensationalism of the fake manifesto to the truth while honest publishers are in short supply. The writing style, education level, and focus are obvious distinctions between the original and the portions added to make up the second manifesto. The “fake” one was clearly written by someone more interested in pushing national issues like gun control and other issues than in discussing matters of importance to the life of Chris Dorner. In fact, Dorner made it clear that he wasn’t writing about the federal government in the original manifesto. Michael Ruppert (an expert on LAPD corruption), Cynthia McKinney (a six-term Congresswoman and International hero) and Jim Stone were all able to download the original before Dorner’s site was hacked and the fake was added. See my article: Activist Post: News Services Fake Dorner Manifesto, Quick-Shooting Police Mistake Little Women for a Big Man

Someone went to a lot of trouble to create that fake manifesto. How much further did the falsifications regarding Dorner go? Did he write any manifesto at all? Did he continue investigating the police after leaving the force and wind up framed for murders committed by corrupt officers fearing exposure by some evidence Dorner had uncovered? Were people killed because they were helping Dorner expose corruption? Law enforcement went to a lot of trouble to try to silence Dorner, shooting women and burning down cabins. What were they afraid he would say if he talked? If officers crossed the line in shooting at women and torching a house, how many other times did they cross the line in this case?

If we suspect Dorner may have been framed, then we need to ask the following question. Who would have had the motive, ability and opportunity to kill those people and fake the chase, as well as the technical skills to hack into Dorner’s website to replace the original manifesto with the fake version? In this case, are the foxes not just guarding the henhouse but investigating who ate the hens while torching the henhouse to destroy the evidence they pretend to be seeking?

    The Victims

    Monica Quan

Why would Chris Dorner go from protector of police abuse victims to abuser himself? Didn’t Monica’s father try to help Dorner? Wouldn’t he have been more likely to be her failed protector than her killer?

    Keith Lawrence

Keith wasn’t on the LAPD. Wasn’t the grudge with the LAPD? Did Keith, a young African-American officer, identify with Chris and try to help him uncover official corruption and end racism in the police agencies? Were Keith, Keith’s fiancée Monica and Chris Dorner investigating the corruption together and close to exposing certain officers at the time Keith, Monica and maybe Chris were killed? Chris was supposedly killed with a single shot to the head. Was that shot fired at the same time as Monica and Keith were killed? Charred remains show no powder burns and the torching of the remains could wipe out the evidence of when and how he was shot.

    Michael Crain

Dorner didn’t have a grudge against the Riverside Police Department. Was Crain a friend in whom Chris confided? Was Crain about to go public with the truth when his life was cut short? Why was his funeral, a media spectacle, timed to coincide with the supposed removal of Dorner’s remains from the cabin and why did some of the funeral speeches give off the appearance of being performances? Was the killer or were the killers among those speaking at the funeral? A movie producer couldn’t have timed it better.

    Jeremy McKay

This man was reportedly killed on Big Bear Mountain, but by whom? Was Dorner even on that mountain?

A Fictitious Conclusion to a Concocted Story or the Truth?

When PIO (Public Information Officer) Andrew Hughan of the Fish and Wildlife Department sat at my table at The Oaks Restaurant, he announced he had a story to tell and he certainly told one. The only problem was that his story was contradicted by the stories of Lieutenant Patrick Foy and others at The Oaks Restaurant. The officers seemed to be good guys, but their job appeared to be to sell the press on an exciting conclusion to the Chris Dorner affair so that the press would be go off and convince the public of the action-packed details of the end of Chris Dorner. It might have helped if the officials presenting the official story had solidified the official version of events before going public with the various scenarios. One officer had Dorner driving towards Big Bear on Highway 38 after stealing the purple SUV from Big Bear. The other had him going the opposite direction on Highway 38. One had the stolen truck being shot and crashing on Highway 38. The other had that same truck being shot and crashing on Glass Road. Even the same officer changed his story as to which areas of the truck were shot when speaking with different members of the press – perhaps solidifying his story as he told it. There was also a question as to whether the purple SUV was owned by Jay of Jay’s Tree Trimming Service or by two maids or by Jim and Karen Reynolds.

The Reynolds’ story is interesting. So a Navy Seal is so lousy at tying people up that they quickly untie themselves and notify authorities within minutes? The Navy Seals need to re-work their training techniques. And who was holding the gun while the first person of the couple was being tied up? And why did Karen claim, in her 911 call, that she was concerned for two house cleaners working in the next unit if he had just tied Karen and her husband up at gunpoint? Was she still trying to solidify her story too?

Of course, we are to believe that a trained police officer on the run was making a big show of being the most wanted man in American while brandishing nasty looking weapons and openly stealing vehicles – instead of trying to fit in. Why didn’t he just put on some ski clothes, complete with visor and a hat and go skiing with the other visitors up at Big Bear? I guess, instead of wanting to get away, he really wanted to get caught and burn in that cabin.

Actually, why would he go to Big Bear at all, when getting there required travel through one of the manned checkpoints between San Diego County (where he supposedly dumped his badge in a National City dumpster for all to find and his wallet in two different places) and Big Bear? Did he smile, his infamous warm smile, at the Border Patrol as he went through the checkpoint near Temecula or the one near San Clemente or one of the other border patrol checkpoints between San Diego and Big Bear? Did they search the vehicle he was traveling in and wish him a happy escape as they let him through? Or did he teleport from San Diego to Big Bear? Teleportation is not any less likely than most of the other details of this story.

The final identifications of Dorner seemed to be based on the color of the man’s skin, his size and the fact that he had a gun. Tom Berens (owner of The Oaks Restaurant), at first said everyone in the area owned a gun and then refined it to 80 to 90%, leaving the identifying factor to be that the man was big and black. There aren’t too many of those in Southern California, are there? Has anyone else in CA ever seen a big Black guy? If you did, it was Chris Dorner. (The next day, this writer and a big Black Cal Trans worker at Angelus Oaks and his Black male coworker were making jokes about how these Cal Trans workers could have been burned in that cabin if they had been seen driving on Highway 38 the day before. Though it wasn’t all that funny, given that one or two men died.) Though racial profiling seemed to be popular in that area as was the popular repetition of the comment, “There are no Black men here.” But contradicting that was the fact that a big armed Black officer came into The Oaks Restaurant and sat down to eat while we were there.

And what would the police have done without a Boy Scout Ranger walking a dog, to add credibility to the story by reporting that a Big Black Man had stolen his truck at gunpoint?

But, let’s hush up any discussion about the million dollars in reward money that would be expected to go to truck owner Rick Heitelbrake and the Reynolds as the body in the cabin has been identified as Dorner. Would you identify a big Black man as having stolen your vehicle and create an exciting story to go with that identification for a million dollars?

Then, there is the wallet. In the lady’s room at The Oaks Restaurant, I listened as a USA Today reporter said that a deputy sheriff had told her that Dorner’s intact wallet had been found in the cabin. Is this like Mohamed Atta’s passport, which was pretty much the only thing to survive the vaporization of the Twin Towers? The cabin was burned to the ground, but the amazing invincible wallet and the identification in it just happened to be ready and waiting for someone to pick up and tag into evidence. According to other sources, though, that same wallet was already in the custody of the police. Does this mean an officer chasing Dorner was roasted in the cabin while holding onto Dorner’s wallet, hoping the wallet’s fireproof magic would rub off on him? If Dorner didn’t have his wallet any more, doesn’t that mean it wasn’t him? Let’s not let facts get in the way of a powerful ending to this story. See this article by Scott Creighton on the escapades of the traveling wallet. “Cops 'Found' Dorner’s Wallet Three Times in Three Different Cities?”

San Ysidro – “After authorities interviewed the boat captain early Thursday, they found Dorner’s wallet and identification cards “at the San Ysidro Point of Entry” near the U.S.-Mexico border.” LA Times

San Diego – 2:20 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 7: A shuttle bus driver turns in a wallet with an LAPD badge and a picture ID of Dorner to San Diego police. The wallet was found fewer than five miles from the boat, near San Diego International Airport. AP Dorner Timeline

San Bernardino – “He never emerged from the ruins, and hours later a charred body was found in the basement of the burned cabin along with a wallet and personal items, including a California driver’s license with the name Christopher Dorner, an official briefed on the investigation told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation.”AP

Isn’t it interesting how so many standoffs end with everything collapsing or going up in flames, like the World Trade Center or Waco? Was Richard Donner or Roland Emmerich producing this movie? The destruction of the cabin was no accident or natural disaster. Listen to the police recording in this article: or listen to these police recordings. Note the words referencing the plan about the burn, “Like we talked about.” How about this, “We have seven burners deployed and we have a fire.” Nice conclusion when all the evidence goes up in smoke and the only ones with access to the remains are those who burned the evidence in the first place. (Source)

Was a big bonfire the only way to hide the truth?

If the wallet was planted (Let’s get real; it was planted.), were the remains also planted? Was Dorner killed trying to save Monica and Keith or perhaps his buddy Michael Crain? Did Jeremy die because he was an honest cop who knew too much and became a liability? Or, as a famous Congresswoman suggested, did Dorner escape like Guy Montag in Fahrenheit 451?

Dorner wasn’t a stupid man. If he wanted to get away, he would not have gone to Big Bear after Point Loma (having to pass a border patrol checkpoint, in between on whichever route he took) and he certainly would not have been running around with guns while stealing vehicles to call attention to himself. Someone trying to get away would have tried to fit in, maybe even joining in the search or going skiing. The other night, I spoke with a group of high school students, who hoped that, like Montag, Chris Dorner was somewhere safe, watching the spectacle, the supposed end of his action-packed story.

We likely will never know what happened to Chris Dorner. The audience is left to believe the unlikely official story or to create its own conclusion, perhaps a happy one.

This started with police misconduct towards suspects. Maybe the best tribute to those who died would be to monitor the police and make sure these abuses are prosecuted.

Disgusting Leftist Marc Lamont Hill Compares Cop Killer to a ‘Super Hero’

    By Doug Giles / 19 February 2013
Nothing really stuns me anymore about the Left and their lunacy. That was until this week when soulless Columbia professor Marc Lamont Hill appeared on CNN and got giddy about cop killer Chris Dorner. Hill said Dorner’s murderous revenge spree was “exciting,” and was like Jamie Foxx’s character in Tarantino’s latest flick, D’jango Unchained.
Hill doubled down on his stupidity during the same interview by stating Chris’ homicidal orgy was akin to the exploits of a “super hero.” I was speechless when I heard such vomit roll off that quack’s tongue.

In contrast to numb nuts, Dorner’s mother, Nancy Dorner, expressed condolences for the victims in a statement given to Robin Sax at Fox 11 Los Angeles. “It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we express our deepest sympathies and condolences to anyone that suffered losses or injuries resulting from Christopher’s actions. We do not condone Christopher’s actions.”
Note, those closest to Chris didn’t commiserate with/for him but rather for those who were ruthlessly killed. Marc Lamont, eh … not so much. His capital lay with Chris.
In my book, Hill jumped the shark with those comments and I hope that all of what’s left of legitimate talent bookers on the various networks treat him like the plague. Like a Rottweiler with rabies. Hill is unbelievably disgusting.
Can you imagine someone of a conservative stripe stating that James Holmes’ melee in Aurora was titillating, understandable and smacked of a heroism? Huh? Holmes had a manifesto, is he cool too, Marc?
And what about Cho Seung-Hui, Mr. Hill? Is he like Bruce Lee or Jackie Chan? I mean, he also drafted docs explaining why he “had” to frickin’ destroy three dozen college students’ lives at Virginia Tech.
Oh, and I almost forgot: what about Adam Lanza? Is he a super hero? Is he “Kick Ass”? I mean … he might have been an offended twenty-something of divorced parents, daddy didn’t love him, the color yellow made him sad or his friends made fun of him on Facebook for his Three Stooges haircut. Should we give Lanza faint praise and cut him some slack for his senseless massacre of six year olds at Sandy Hook because of possible and plausible offenses, huh, Marc?
Here’s my prediction: as long as Hollywood celebrates revenge murders and the likes of CNN keep putting clowns like Hill on TV, we will continue to see whiners shoot up innocent civilians in hopes that jerks like Lamont will sympathize on TV for their murderous plight and make ‘em posthumous heroes.
However, if our culture and our commentators uniformly condemn such actions, the clowns who praise them and the pathetic losers that carry them out, I’m a-guessin’ we could see a reduction in the senseless slaughter of innocent people.
We could call it a High Capacity Idiot Ban.
Finally, I hope to God that families of those murdered by Dorner didn’t hear that BS roll off Hill’s tongue. I cannot imagine the grief they’re going through now accentuated by such callous and calamitous comments.
Check out my BRAND NEW BOOK: Sandy Hook Massacre: When Seconds Count, Police Are Minutes Away.

Family threatened by fugitive ex-cop recalls ordeal

Published February 19, 2013 Associated Press

LOS ANGELES – Police Sgt. Emada Tingirides heard the fear in her husband's voice on the phone and stopped the patrol car. Her first thought was that one of their six kids had been killed. It was Feb. 6, and a manifesto by fugitive ex-LAPD officer Christopher Dorner had just been found. He threatened to kill police officers and their families over his firing from the department in 2008.

"I know that our family was a target, that my husband was a direct target, and for the first two or three hours, I was in disbelief," Tingirides said Tuesday while recounting the family's six-day ordeal as officers hunted for the rogue former cop suspected at the time of killing three people, including one officer. Her husband, Capt. Phil Tingirides, 54, headed the three-person disciplinary panel that unanimously decided Dorner should be fired for making a false report. The family's six kids plus a daughter's boyfriend were under police protection for six days.

Officers stood guard throughout the night, escorting the children to sports events and other non-routine activities that Dorner could not have anticipated. The family slept little as they awaited word on Dorner's whereabouts. They avoided TV news reports. "The Xboxes got used, the TV was on other channels, we played board games," Phil Tingirides said. "We found that it brought our family closer together."

At a news conference Tuesday, Police Chief Charlie Beck said the department's review of Dorner's firing is under way and will take several months. Dorner, who was black, claimed he was subjected to racism and was targeted for reporting misconduct. He died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound during a siege of a mountain cabin near Big Bear Lake that followed a spree of violence in which authorities say he killed four people, including two law enforcement officers, and wounded three other people. The threats in Dorner's 11,000-word manifesto posted to Facebook, and titled "Last Resort," led the LAPD to place about 50 officers and their families under protection. Some decided to leave town, but the Tingirideses stayed in their Irvine home because of the logistics. "The most ironic thing, is the first thing we talked about, and we had offers, `Come on up to Big Bear,"' Phil Tingirides said.

Hype about Dorner's police and military prowess in the manifesto and the media made it difficult to sort fact from rumor. "I had this vision of him climbing through the manholes and coming up and slitting the officers' throats and coming in silently to kill us all," Phil Tingirides said. It was hard to explain to the kids. Emada Tingirides, 42, simply told their 10-year-old daughter that "a crazy man is trying to do really bad things," but the girl came back with pointed questions after reading about Dorner on social media. Their oldest son asked about a sniper's shooting range. "We'd go into the garage and cry, because we didn't want our kids to feel the anguish and the hurt we were feeling," Emada Tingirides said. Beck said Tuesday that "Dorner did a lot of homework" and they think he conducted surveillance near the homes of those who were threatened.

A neighbor of the Tingirideses said he thinks he spoke with Dorner three or four days before Monica Quan and Keith Lawrence were found murdered in a condo parking lot in Irvine -- the same city where the Tingirides family lives. The man had been circling the neighborhood in a pickup truck. When the neighbor saw Dorner's photo and truck on TV, he called the police. The Tingirideses received strong support for their community, who welcomed them at sporting events despite officers with their rifles standing guard. Phil Tingirides, a captain at Southeast Area for six years, said a group of active gang members even offered to stand guard.

The family didn't know whether it would last six months or two years. After nearly a week under protection, they started talking long-term --considering moving to Colorado or New York. Both agreed they wouldn't return to work until Dorner was captured. It was early afternoon when Tingirides received a text message from his ex-wife, who was also under protection, alerting him to the standoff with Dorner in the San Bernardino mountains.

Emada Tingirides called the kids in to join them in the bedroom and they watched the end together. The Tingirideses had few contacts with Dorner prior to the mention in the manifesto. Phil Tingirides has been with the LAPD for 33 years. He had never met Dorner before the disciplinary hearing and was not in touch with him afterward.

Emada Tingirides, an 18-year member of the department, recalls a single conversation with Dorner in 2007 when he was dealing with the disciplinary process and brought it up to her. "He had spoken about being bummed about the incident and that he was telling the truth and he hoped it wasn't being turned into a race thing because he was black," said Emada Tingirides, who is also black. "I remember flat out telling him this is a process; you're not going through this process because you are black. This has nothing to do with your color," she said.
"If you're being honest stick to that."

Phil Tingirides said the incident has helped give him perspective about the community he polices. At 9 square miles, Southeast Area has roughly 45 homicides each year. Some locals asked why he "hunkered down" under such a threat, and he realizes more so now what it's like to live with the threat of violence. "I have a sense of how a lot of the community that we serve on a daily basis feels," Tingirides said.

Game Wardens: The Unsung Heroes in the Christopher Dorner Case

For nearly a week, virtually all national and local news stations were reporting on the manhunt for Christopher Dorner. Dorner had killed several people and wounded several more in an act of retaliation against the Los Angeles Police Department for what he believed was an unfair dismissal from his job as an LA cop. Dorner had a wild manifesto that sadly caught the attention of many misguided liberals who saw him more as a hero instead of the cold-blooded murder he really was. Some warped minded individuals even created a violent video game to honor Dorner.
Dorner’s rampage came to an end on Tuesday, February 12, when he was cornered in a cabin by law enforcement officers from several agencies. During the confrontation at the cabin, there was an extensive gun battle in which one sheriff’s deputy was killed and another wounded. Eventually, the cabin was approached with an armored vehicle with the intent to push the cabin walls down. A fire then erupted in the cabin and officers heard a single gunshot. Dorner’s body was found in the burned out cabin and the San Bernardino coroner’s office positively identified him through dental records.
In all of the reports I saw on the news and read online, it sounded like the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department was responsible for locating Dorner and ending his murder spree, but that’s not the true story. The real heroes were members of the California Fish and Wildlife Office. They were game wardens.
Most people think of game wardens as those men and women who only check your hunting and fishing licenses and make sure you don’t catch more fish than you are allowed or that you have tag on the deer you shot. But they are so much more than that. In some states, game wardens and other fish and game personnel that carry a badge and weapon, go through the same academy as the state highway patrol attend. Upon graduating that academy, they are commissioned as state law enforcement officers just like the highway patrol. Their jurisdiction covers the entire state in which they serve. Game wardens, wildlife managers, etc, in California are among those that are commissioned law enforcement officers for the entire state.
On February 12, according to Pat Foy and Mark Michilizzini, Public Information Officers for the California Fish and Game Department, Christopher Dorner was first spotted by two game wardens near Big Bear Lake. Around 12:45pm, the wardens had to stop on Highway 80 for a school bus going the opposite direction they were headed. As the bus finished its stop and began to drive away, the wardens spotted a man that looked like Dorner, driving a purple Nissan car.

The wardens turned around and started to pursue Dorner. Dorner then turned onto another road and tried to outrun the game wardens, but ended up losing control on a curve and crashing into the woods. Dorner escaped his car and immediately confiscated a truck driven by a ranger from a Boy Scout camp. As he fled in the truck, Dorner passed another game warden truck with only one warden inside. This warden radioed Dorner’s position and direction and tried to follow. As Dorner drove down another road, a third game warden truck with two wardens inside, spotted him coming towards them. At that point, Dorner fired five rounds at the wardens, hitting their truck. Two of the shots entered the cab, but neither men were injured.
One of the game wardens was a former Marine and he managed to fire several shots with his rifle as Dorner drove away. He hit the truck Dorner was driving with several shots causing him to crash the truck. Dorner then got out and ran towards a cabin. By this time, members of the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department had joined the game wardens and Dorner was trapped and you know what happened then.
Game wardens in many states are often overlooked for the jobs they do. In states like California, they are also deputy US Marshalls. They are often called upon for law enforcement issues that take place in the more remote areas of the state since that is where they spend much of the time and they know the areas better than most others. They are also called upon to help with drug trafficking cases, human trafficking cases, lost persons and many other cases. Not only are they found in the good ole outdoors, but sometimes they are called upon to go into inner city areas for one reason or another.
Many game wardens patrol their areas alone. Backup, if they need it, is often miles away. In the field, they often are dealing with people that are armed, especially during hunting season. In fact, some game wardens face more armed people than most policemen do.
So while the San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department basks in the limelight of taking Christopher Dorner down, the real heroes who risked their lives were five game wardens. They truly were the unsung heroes responsible for ending Dorner’s rampage and saving more lives. My congratulations go out them and all of the other game wardens throughout the country.

Game Wardens: The Key to Finding Christopher Dorner

by James Swan on February 13, 2013

California Fish and Wildlife wardens Lt. John Nores and Kyle Kroll.

The ex-LAPD officer who shot his way into the national headlines after killing four people and wounding several others on a dramatic crime spree, Christopher Dorner, was tracked into the Big Bear Lake area of southern California last week. Upwards of 200 law enforcement officers were engaged in the manhunt, which began on February 6 and spread throughout California and Mexico. By Sunday, the search began to focus elsewhere. The California Fish and Wildlife wardens volunteered to join in the hunt and ultimately it was game wardens who appear to have found the elusive murder suspect.
According to California Fish and Wildlife Public Information Officers Pat Foy and Mark Michilizzini, at about 12:45pm on Tuesday afternoon, February 12, two game wardens came to a stopped school bus on Highway 38 near the resort community of Big Bear Lake 80 miles east of Los Angeles. When the school bus started up and passed the wardens, they noticed a purple Nissan sedan was following the school bus very closely. Then they saw that the Nissan was being driven by a person who fit the description of Christopher Dorner. Dorner allegedly got the car days before when he broke into a home, tied up a couple and held them hostage.
The wardens turned around and began pursuit. The driver quickly turned down Glass Road. After a short pursuit at high speed, the man authorities believe to be Dorner failed to negotiate a curve and crashed the Nissan into the woods.
Almost immediately, the suspect stopped a truck driven by Rick Heltebrake, a ranger at a nearby Boy Scout camp, and ordered him out of the pickup with his dog. Heltebrake and dog were unharmed. The man then took off in the white pickup. He then passed another game warden truck with one warden. That warden radioed of the position of the truck and its direction.
A third game warden truck then came on the scene with two wardens. On seeing that truck approaching him, the suspect rolled down the window of his vehicle and opened fire on the approaching truck with a pistol. Five bullets hit the truck, two entering the cab. Luckily no one was hit.
The man then took off on another road, as one of the game wardens, a former Marine, got out of his shot-up truck and began firing with his rifle, hitting the targeted truck several times.
The driver then crashed that truck, got out, and ran for a cabin, as the wardens were joined by San Bernadino County Sheriff’s deputies who swarmed after him on foot.
Two deputies were wounded in the chase, and one subsequently died. Their target then fled to a cabin, where he holed up. At one point he tried to flee, but was driven back inside. A fierce gun battle then ensued.
Finally, deputies were able to approach the cabin in an armored vehicle and began battering it down. Ultimately the cabin was set on fire, a single shot was heard, and a body was later found inside which is presumably Christopher Dorner (editor’s note 2/15/2013: the body has now been positively identified as Dorner’s), ending a tragic story that we will no doubt hear about for some time.
Six California Fish and Wildlife wardens were involved in the manhunt for Christopher Dorner, and five of the six were directly involved in locating the alleged fugitive and engaging him, which led to him holing up in the cabin. The crucial role of the wardens in this dangerous chase may surprise you, as you may have considered game wardens as the men and women who spend their time checking limits of fish and making sure you have tagged your deer.
Yeah, they do that, but they do a lot more.
Game wardens see their fair share of action. In this image of one of a California game warden’s signature green truck, you can see a bullet hole behind the cab. This is not an image from the Dorner shootout.

In California, as in most other states, state game wardens are full law enforcement officers. Each type of law enforcement officer has their own beat. City police focus on matters inside that city’s boundaries. Sheriff’s deputies focus primarily on areas outside of major cities within a certain county. State police tend to focus on major highways and state and federal office buildings.
Game wardens, like U.S. Marshals, can and do go anywhere from wilderness to inner cities, and they are the most woods-wise of all state law enforcement, often patrolling remote areas where no other state officers normally are found. California game wardens are also deputy U.S. Marshals.
In a typical California Fish and Wildlife warden green truck, you will find the standard 12 gauge pump shotgun and a semi-automatic rifle in a heavier caliber like a .308, which is what the warden used to cause Dorner to crash the truck. The wardens use a .308 as they typically have to deal with shooting through heavy brush and sometimes long distances. Wardens also carry two pistols, as well as pepper spray, handcuffs, and such on a belt that may weigh 25 pounds. They are better armed than almost all police.
Normally, game wardens work alone and without immediate back-up in remote areas. Fortunately, in the Dorner case, they were able to double up and apply their woods skills to advantage. Warden PIO Pat Foy reported on-site that the wardens were “a little rattled” but they were trained for this kind of work and were fine. Tuesday’s incident marked the second time in seven weeks that game wardens have been fired on in the line of duty. During summer duty, when wardens encounter drug cartel marijuana gardens on wildlands, there are exchanges of gunfire every summer.
    The Real Secret Service

There are over 830,000 sworn local law enforcement officers in the U.S., 72,000 police in Manhattan alone. Nationwide, there are around 7,000 game wardens; about as many as the NYPD Blue assigns to cover the New Year’s Eve celebration.
State game wardens are known by various names such as Conservation Officers, Conservation Police, Wildlife Enforcement Agents, Fish Wardens, and Fish and Game Wardens, just to name a few. Many are also deputy federal marshals. There are also U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Special Agents, BLM Special Agents, and National Marine Fisheries Special Agents–federal game wardens–which are about as common as whooping cranes.
No matter what you call them, the jobs of game wardens are basically the same: to protect our fish, wildlife, and natural resources by enforcing wildlife laws–and a lot more. Game wardens are community-based peace officers who cover the largest jurisdiction of any state or local law enforcement officer.
A California Department of Fish and Game (now Department of Fish and Wildlife) warden’s badge.

In California, a game warden must have at least two years of post-secondary education. Then they take an entrance exam. If they pass, it takes a warden 16 months to be trained. Training is extensive and includes (but certainly is not limited to) wildlife law, firearms law, arrest and defense tactics, search and rescue, drug and narcotics enforcement, first aid/CPR, weaponless defense, and much more.
Working from a home office, they are on duty 24/7, patrol remote areas often alone and without backup, in pick-ups, snowmobiles, planes, boats, ATV, underwater with SCUBA gear, horseback, trail bikes, and on foot. They also do all their own CSI. Canine companions are becoming increasingly popular.
Almost all people contacted by wardens are armed with guns or knives, or both. Planes and trucks have been and are hit by gunfire. Wardens routinely contact and arrest armed convicted felons. Over 90% of public contacts on the job are nonviolent, but federal statistics show that game wardens and DEA agents have the highest risk of death on the job. There have been at least 229 wildlife officers that have been killed or have died while on duty.
All wardens are also Hunter Education Instructors. They teach people to use firearms, which is a dramatic departure from other law enforcement officers who discourage firearms use and often try to reduce firearms numbers. The only other place a law enforcement person would meet so many armed people is a battlefield.
Game wardens, the “thin green line,” are not abundant anyplace, and as a result they become obscure when people, including policymakers, think about law enforcement strength, and homeland security. Modern game wardens in reality are like the town sheriff of the old west, and the beat they patrol is covered by few others wearing a badge–forest and park rangers, Border Patrol, Coast Guard, and so on. The more scarce that game wardens are, the less safe are the woods, water, and natural resources, as well as the people who use them.
Note: With 38 million people, California has the distinction of having the fewest game wardens per capita in North America (Nunavut Territory has a better wardens per capita ratio) and also the most famous ones, thanks to the Wild Justice TV series on the National Geographic Channel. If you are a fan of Wild Justice you will know that California wardens deal with organized crime and drug cartels as well as enforcing wildlife law.
