8 Reasons ObamaCare is a Flaming Nuclear-Grade Disaster

While a lot of folks in the media are hung up on the disastrous Healthcare.gov website, and the president’s weird attempt to make insurance companies allow people to keep their plans (even though the law dictates otherwise), there are other massive reasons ObamaCare is a failure.

Here are just nine of them.

1. ObamaCare Website Bombs

“Just under 27,000 people enrolled in insurance via the federal health exchange through November 2, the Department of Health and Human Services announced today. Combined with 79,391 enrollees from states running their own exchanges, 106,185 total people have enrolled in exchange plans.” [NRO]

2. Employer Mandate Train Wreck

“The Departments’ mid-range estimate is that 66 percent of small employer plans and 45 percent of large employer plans will relinquish their grandfather status by the end of 2013.” [Federal Register, June 2010.] The mandate has been illegally delayed until 2014, but millions will lose their employer-provided plans, regardless.

3. Gigantic Rate Spikes

“Based on a Manhattan Institute analysis of the HHS numbers, Obamacare will increase underlying insurance rates for younger men by an average of 97 to 99 percent, and for younger women by an average of 55 to 62 percent. Worst off is North Carolina, which will see individual-market rates triple for women, and quadruple for men.” [Forbes]

4. Still Doesn’t Cover 31 Million

“The Affordable Care Act, the most sweeping health care program created in a half century, is expected to extend coverage to 25 million Americans over the next decade, according to the most recent government estimates. But that will still leave a projected 31 million people without insurance by 2023.” [WaPo]

5. Millions Will Lose Their Plans

“Bottom line: of the 189 million Americans with private health insurance coverage, I estimate that if Obamacare is fully implemented, at least 129 million (68 percent) will not be able to keep their previous health care plan…” [Chris Conover, Center for Health Policy & Inequalities Research]

6. Fire Tornado of Paperwork

“Obamacare has so far cost $30.8 billion and 111.4 million hours to complete paperwork to individuals, healthcare institutions, and small businesses, according to a new report. The American Action Forum, a Washington-based advocacy group that has long opposed the health law, said 55,742 employees — working 2,000 hours per year — would be needed to process all the red tape associated with Obamacare.” [NewsMax]

7. Trillions More in Debt

“Obamacare will increase the long-term federal deficit by $6.2 trillion, according to a Government Accountability Office (GAO) report”… President Obama also said in an ABC News interview in 2009 that if Congress did not pass health care legislation that brought down costs, the federal government “will go bankrupt.”

8. Politicians Exempt Themselves

“A specific provision of the health-care law says that members of Congress and their staffs are required to procure their health-care coverage on the Obamacare exchange, just like millions of Americans. But the millions of Americans who will be forced into the exchange will not get employer subsidies to contribute to the cost of their exchange policy. That’s in Obamacare. That’s the law.” [David Vitter, NRO]

It’s official – ObamaCare is a nuclear-grade disaster.
