Lawyer alleges ex-Fla. governor paid men to cover up affairs

TALLAHASSEE – A lawyer for the former chairman of the Florida Republican Party has alleged that former Gov. Charlie Crist paid two men to leave the state to hide his homosexuality.
The allegations are made in a Florida Department of Law Enforcement investigative report in the case of former state party Chairman Jim Greer, who is facing criminal charges for allegedly paying himself to raise money for the Republican Party of Florida. Greer maintains that Crist approved the deal.
Crist called the statements "a bunch of delusional lies" and added that Greer's attorney wanted him to change his affidavit about his knowledge of Greer's compensation for fundraising.
The allegations in the FDLE report come from Damon Chase, Greer's attorney. Chase allegedly told John Morgan of Morgan and Morgan, the law firm where Crist works, that if he had to depose the former governor, Crist would be embarrassed by the following:
• Crist had homosexual relationships with at least two men who were paid to leave the state to avoid embarrassing the then-governor.
• Crist attempted to kiss Greer at a hotel in Beverly Hills.
• Crist had drunken escapades and his security detail had to cover for him.
• Crist attempted to run over people with a golf cart while he was intoxicated.
In response, Morgan responded saying said that even if Crist were a homosexual, it had nothing to do with the case, and the allegations were just were just an attempt to embarrass Crist.
Greer is scheduled to go to trial July 30.
