This Is the ‘Biggest Question’ Not Being Asked About the Bergdahl Exchange

Posted on 7 June, 2014 by clyde

Number one bestselling author Brad Thor appeared on TheBlaze TV’s Dana Friday to discuss what he believes is the “biggest question” the mainstream media is not asking about the recent trade of five senior Taliban leaders from the U.S. prison at Guantanamo Bay in exchange for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl, who was held captive by militants in Afghanistan and Pakistan for nearly five years.

    Video at the page link:

Was the White House directly or indirectly involved in a financial exchange to ensure Bergdahl’s release, Thor asked, thereby knowingly funding a terrorist organization?
Thor noted that Bergdahl is believed to have been held by the Haqqani network, which has pledged allegiance to the Taliban but operates independently. Thor described the Haqqani network as “like organized crime, but with Muslims — 80 percent ‘Sopranos,’ 20 percent Al Qaeda.”
“Yet it’s the Taliban, the Afghan Taliban, a different group, that got the prisoners returned to them,” Thor remarked. “So we need to ask, cui bono? What was in it for the Haqqanis? And the Haqqanis in every single transaction always want money, including 2008 when they captured New York Times reporter David Rohde. So for the Haqqanis to just hand over Bowe Bergdahl for nothing makes no sense at all.”
Thor said the Obama administration needs to be asked whether it directly or indirectly funneled money to the Haqqani network.
“And I don’t care if it was cash, gold, diamonds, did it happen through a third party, did it go through the Qataris…” Thor said. “I don’t know how it happened, but I’m telling you: with the Haqqanis, there’s always money. But nobody has put it to the White House to say, ‘Was there anything in this for the Haqqanis? If so, what was it?’”
“I’m telling you, there was some sort of deal in this for the Haqqanis that the White House doesn’t want to talk about,” Thor remarked. “I promise you.”

Thor, who seemingly predicted the release of five of the most dangerous detainees at Guantanamo Bay in his book “The First Commandment” seven years ago, had choice words for how the Obama administration has approached foreign policy and the economy.
“They are completely inept. They are incompetent. They are ignorant. They don’t know what they’re doing,” Thor stated. “The economy hasn’t recovered. Show me one thing from the Obama administration that the American people should be saying, ‘we want more of that, that’s great, give us more.’ They haven’t done anything right.”
“They have no idea what they’re doing in the White House, as evidenced by everything being a failure from Barack Obama and his people,” he concluded.

LATEST: Officials Say Military Advised Obama Not to Make Bergdahl Swap

    by Fox News Insider // Jun 06 2014 // 2:11pm
As seen on The Real Story with Gretchen Carlson

    Video at the Page Link:

On The Real Story this hour, Mike Emanuel reported new fallout over the release of five Gitmo detainees for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl. A senior Defense official tells Fox News that military officials advised President Obama not to make the prisoner swap, calling it “like handing over five four-star generals of the Taliban.”

Fallen Soldier's Mom: 'No Doubt in My Mind' He Died Looking for Bergdahl

Meanwhile, Senator Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, blasted the report that the Taliban threatened to kill Bergdahl if anyone leaked word of the swap.
Sen. Chambliss said, “I don’t know of anybody among the folks who historically have been given classified information that would leak anything. We all get classified daily, and you don’t see leaks coming out of us.”
Another prominent lawmaker says the Obama administration was concerned that if they told Congress about the release, there would’ve been bipartisan opposition to the deal.
Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) told reporters, “I also believe that the White House did not want to hear those kinds of objections and that is the true reason they did not consult before the exchange was made.”
Sources say intelligence shows that Bergdahl was not as much of a prisoner as thought, and that he was “wandering around.” Fox News’ James Rosen obtained documents showing that Bergdahl converted to Islam while he was a prisoner of war and was fraternizing openly with the Taliban.
Today, National Security Advisor Susan Rice cautioned against a rush to judgment.
“This is a young man whose circumstances we are still going to learn about. He is, as all Americans, innocent until proven guilty. He is now being tried in the court of public opinion after having gone through enormously traumatic five years in captivity,” she said.
Rice previously took heat for saying Bergdahl served with “honor and distinction.” Since Bergdahl’s release, his fellow soldiers have publicly stated that he was a deserter who walked away from his unit in Afghanistan.

‘Meet My Husband, Injuries Directly Brought to You by the Actions of this Traitor’

June 6, 2014 By Jennifer Burke

While the Obama regime is attempting to paint Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl as a hero to justify the exchange that Obama brokered with the Taliban, which included the release of five of the most notorious Taliban leaders detained at Guantanamo Bay, those who served with Bergdahl have said he is no hero. At best he is a deserter in their eyes. At worst, he is a traitor.

Fed up with the hoopla surrounding Bergdahl and the claim by Obama that he served with honor and distinction, the wife of man who sacrificed his life in the search for Bergdahl, and returned disabled, has spoken out via Facebook.
Shannon Allen is the wife of Sgt. 1st Class Mark Allen. Upon Mark’s return home from Afghanistan, their lives changed forever because Mark returned paralyzed and unable to even speak. He sustained his injuries in the search for Bergdahl after Bowe left his post and went AWOL.
Here is Shannon’s message for all those who are celebrating the return of Bowe Bergdahl and hailing him as a hero. She posted the following statement on Facebook.

"Meet my husband, injuries directly brought to you by the actions of this traitor. He can't give an account of what went down, because he can no longer speak. Now, which guy is a 'hero' again?!? Sick."

Sergeant First Class Mark Allen had only been in Afghanistan for a month when he was wounded and paralyzed by a sniper’s bullet. His unit, the Georgia National Guard’s 48th Brigade Combat Team, was out searching for Bergdahl who left his post on June 30, 2009.
Allen is the true hero and his wife’s anger at the government’s illegal exchange for Bergdahl is understandable. One thing is certain, the more facts that come out, the more disconcerting this negotiation with the Taliban becomes. Left out of the spotlight are the true heroes like Allen whose life changed forever when his troop was forced to search for a deserter and were made to sign non-disclosure agreements to prevent them from talking about it.

'Worst of the Worst': Who Did U.S. Release From Gitmo for Bergdahl?

    by Fox News Insider // Jun 02 2014 // 9:36am
As seen on Fox and Friends

    Video at the Page Link:

After the release this weekend of a U.S. soldier held captive by the Taliban for five years, questions are now being raised about the five terrorists released from Guantanamo Bay in the prisoner swap. Former CIA operative Gary Berntsen joined Steve Doocy this morning to give us some background on the men.
The names of the detainees are Mohammad Fazl, Mullah Norullah Noori, Mohammed Nabi, Khairullah Khairkhwa, and Abdul Haq Wasiq. They are believed to be the top five Taliban leaders at the prison and were selected in 2012 by Taliban leaders as part of initial negotiations.
Berntsen noted that Wasiq was the Taliban's deputy chief of intelligence, and along with the other four were involved in the murders of 6,000 Hazara tribesmen when the Taliban seized the city of Mazar-i-Sharif.
"These men conducted a genocide. They are among the worst people on the planet," said Berntsen, noting that the men will now stay in Qatar for a year "at the pool" and will return to the Taliban as "rock stars" after that time is up.
Berntsen said this is a "meaningful concession" by the Obama administration and will inspire the Taliban to continue the fight. Berntsen, who was active in the CIA when these men were captured, said he would have tried to find another way, calling the price for Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl "too high."
There are also questions being raised about Bergdahl's disappearance, including by Donald Trump this morning, with some questioning whether he was actually a deserter.

Watch the interview above, plus tune in tonight for much more reaction to the prisoner swap, which will be the subject of Bill O'Reilly's Talking Points Memo, tonight at 8/11p ET. Then, The Kelly File gets reaction from Dick Cheney and two U.S. soldiers who were serving alongside Bergdahl on the day he went missing.
