Seattle Councilman Thinks Power Washing Poop Could Be Racist

Oh how we wish this was satire, but it’s not. When two King County judges asked the city for help at a recent council meeting, Seattle Councilman Larry Gossett didn’t appear to like the idea of power washing the sidewalk in front of the King County Courthouse to tamp down the smell of feces and urine. Why? Because it reminds him of the fire hoses trained on civil rights activists in the 60s.

Facepalm. Perhaps the Seattle councilman would volunteer to wash the sidewalk with a bucket of soap?

The area around the King County courthouse has been plagued with the stench because there are numerous homeless shelter beds and social service organizations in the area. They’ve dubbed the park, “Muscatel Meadows.” Jurors have also been attacked, and some have said they weren’t going to serve in that location because of the problems. They are willing to go to Kent, but not to the main courthouse.

Daily Caller reported,

Multiple assaults, harassment and drugs have been reported to the police in the area near the courthouse. Jurors have taken to asking judges to release them from jury duty and two jurors have been assaulted over the past two months.

“When they come to this courthouse they’re afraid to come in,” said King County Sheriff John Urquhart. “They’re afraid to walk down Third Avenue because what they see.”

The Sheriff has asked for an $8,000 increase in his budget to place two deputies at the courthouse from 4 to 5 hours several days a week to monitor the situation, according to the Seattle Times. He has a bird’s eye view of the problem from his office, and agrees with the two judges that the problem has grown worse.

Seattle Police Capt. Mike Teeter said that statistically it’s not that bad by the courthouse, and that it’s worse in others. Which doesn’t say much for Seattle’s Democrat liberal stronghold.

No administrative action to actually solve the problem was taken the night of that council meeting, but they did agree to step up power washing the sidewalks, and change the garbage more frequently in spite of Seattle councilman Gossett’s concerns.
Seattle, Washington appears to be vying with Portland, Oregon for worst idiotic liberal city.

An outbreak of the Bubonic Plague is now "imminent" in Los Angeles, according to a warning by Dr. Drew Pinsky.

Pinsky describes the LA streets, which are covered in piles of rat-infested trash and human waste, and a breeding ground for deadly diseases similar to those that killed millions in medieval Europe.

Bubonic plague, like typhus, is endemic to the region and can spread from rodents to humans in a similar fashion, Dr. Drew said.

And if you look at the pictures of Los Angeles, you will see that the homeless encampments are surrounded by dumps.

"People defecate there, they throw their trash there, and the rats just proliferate there.”Moreover, he said, homeless people were defecating directly into city drains, which flowed to the Pacific Ocean.“

We have the sewage of 60,000 people hitting the ocean every day,” he said.

Though there were adequate financial resources, Dr. Drew said, homelessness would not be solved by building more housing because the fundamental problems were down to mental illness and drug addictions, which created an “attachment to this lifestyle” on the streets.

The city had been successful at absorbing hundreds of thousands of “undocumented immigrants,” Dr. Drew observed, which showed that the focus on housing was a “hoax.”

But changes in mental health policy — partly as a result of public reactions to films like One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, which was harshly critical of mental health institutions — had made it much more difficult to commit people to institutional care.

And efforts at relocating the homeless — either to treatment or to prison — ran into lawsuits from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), whom Dr. Drew described as “do-gooders” without any idea about how to solve the underlying problem.

“How many people must die before you change your philosophy?” Dr. Drew asked, rhetorically.

Some, Dr. Drew said, said that the situation in Los Angeles was approaching a national emergency that would require the intervention of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), the Red Cross, and the National Guard.

He said that he himself had not reached that conclusion yet, but that he was “ready to pull that trigger if we start to see the diseases that I think we are going to.

Mayor de Blasio should probably stop bragging about the fact that crime in his city has fallen to all-time lows.
In a series of shocking videos, NYPD officers can be seen being doused with buckets of water and pelted with projectiles as they tried to do their jobs (in one video, the officers were in the middle of making an arrest).
The stunning footage, which was first spotted online on Monday, shows the brazen young men in Harlem and Brooklyn dousing cops with water and, in one frame, an officer gets beaned in the back of the head with an empty red plastic bucket. The attacks on the officers started as they were arresting another young man, and in the video, they can be seen handcuffing the man while he was splayed out on the hood of a car.

Sources from within the NYPD and the officers union spoke with the New York Post about the "outrage" they felt toward both the criminals who carried out the attacks and the mayor, Bill de Blasio, who was out-of-state when the attacks occurred. Senior NYPD officials and union leaders have repeatedly criticized de Blasio for going easy on criminals and undoing some of the progress that happened under Mayors Bloomberg and Giuliani, where crime rates in the city began a dramatic slide (though, in recent years, crime rates have started ticking higher again).

"Everybody’s outraged," an NYPD source said. "It’s disgusting, embarrassing. There’s lawlessness around here now."
Police Chief Terence Monahan called the footage reprehensible and said every New Yorker must show respect for NYPD officers.

Another officer blamed the incidents on the NYPD’s "hands-off approach to these guys" that Mayor de Blasio first advocated.

"Who does that in their right frame of mind? People who believe there’s no consequences," the anonymous officer said. "It's total anarchy. This is very sad."

Patrolmen's Benevolent Association head Pat Lynch, a longtime NYPD labor leader, called the water bucket attacks "the end result of the torrent of bad policies and anti-police rhetoric that has been streaming out of City Hall and Albany for years now."

The PBA Twitter account tweeted one of the clips, and insisted that we are approaching "the point of no return."
Lynch added that politicians don't care about the dangers of being an NYPD officer.

"As police officers, we need to draw a line. In situations like this, we need to take action to protect ourselves and the public. The politicians may not care about the dangerous levels of chaos in our neighborhoods, but police officers and decent New Yorkers should not be forced to suffer."

But de Blasio didn't mention the videos on his Twitter.
