Former U.S. Attorney Doug Jones, the liberal Democrat running against Judge Roy Moore for U.S. Senate, is featuring first daughter Ivanka Trump in his television ad playing across Alabama.

“There’s a special place in hell for people who prey on children,” an ominous voiceover quotes Ivanka.
The ad uses quotes by Ivanka, along with Attorney General Jeff Session, who, until recently occupied the seat for which Jones and Moore are running, and Sen. Richard Shelby (R-AL), to claim “conservative voices” are abandoning Moore in deep-red Alabama over the allegations of decades-old sexual misconduct against him.

It is unclear why Ivanka, widely reported to have been a consistent Democrat before her father ran for office and still entertaining many friends from that side of the aisle, is described as a “conservative” voice.
‘I have no reason to doubt the victims’ accounts,” the narrator quotes Ivanka, “Jeff Sessions says, ‘I have no reason to doubt these young women.'”

Sessions’s comment came in testimony at the House Judiciary Committee as Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) grilled him on the Alabama Senate race and a multitude of other topics. Sessions has not called on Moore to drop out of the race or claimed he would not vote for him, as his more establishment former Alabama U.S. Senate delegation-mate Richard Shelby has.

Jackson Lee was waving black and white photos of Moore’s accusers and a copy of the U.S. Constitution as she berated Sessions with questions when he made his reply. Sessions specifically declined to answer as to Moore’s suitability to be seated if he were elected. He cited DOJ ethics officials, who “Advised me that the attorney general should not be involved in this campaign.”

Jones’ ad makes hay with Shelby’s stance, telling viewers “Richard Shelby says he will ‘absolutely not vote for Roy Moore.'”
