Speaking as a guest on CNN's "Piers Morgan Tonight" on Monday evening, Mayor Bloomberg stepped up his call for stricter gun laws by suggesting police across the country strike until the federal government act on gun control.

Bloomberg, who is a co-founder of the coalition Mayors Against Illegal Guns, said:

I don’t understand why the police officers across his country don’t stand up collectively and say, ‘We’re going to go on strike. We're not going to protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what's required to keep us safe. After all, police officers want to go home to their families and we're doing everything we can to make their jobs more difficult.

The mayor has been a staunch supporter of increased gun control, routinely working to raise national awareness of what he believes to be flagrant, dangerous failures in government background checks required for gun purchases.

Following last Friday's horrific movie theater shooting in Aurura, Mayor Bloomberg has been extremely vocal in his criticism towards both President Obama and presumptive GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney for their lack of discussion on what they plan to do to improve gun control in the country.

Since the shooting, many have pointed to the National Rifle Association for enabling loose ownership of firearms.

PBS's Bill Moyers blasted the NRA as an "enabler of death" and "the best friend a killer's instinct ever had."

A recent report revealed the NRA has a strong lobby in New York, donating more money to campaigns in the state than any other in the country. Their contributions are thought to have played a part in blocking the passage of microstamping in New York.

Mayor Bloomberg himself, however, also was a a very big donor to state Senate Republicans, who have blocked Bloomberg's efforts to pass microstamping laws.

    A new low in demagoguery

CCRKBA to Bloomberg: ‘Maybe YOU should go on strike, Mr. Mayor

    CCRKBA
    Tuesday, July 24, 2012

BELLEVUE, WA – Anti-gun New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s call for American police officers to “go on strike” in an effort to force Congress and state legislatures to push his gun prohibition agenda is “a new low in demagoguery,” the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“Mayor Bloomberg has gone from bluster to blackmail with his extremist gun ban campaign,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “He would have police officers quit their posts and abandon their public safety missions in what would amount to an exercise of national extortion.

“Perhaps he believes it would be better,” he noted, “for cops to walk off the job than to engage in illegal gun and drug transactions, as some of his own New York City police have done lately.”

Bloomberg was on CNN Monday speaking to Piers Morgan when he encouraged police officers stage this strike. Gottlieb noted that by even making the suggestion, Bloomberg might be close to violating a New York statute known as the Taylor Law. Under that 1967 law – officially titled the Public Employees Fair Employment Act – public employees and employers are prohibited from encouraging strikes by public employees.

“If Bloomberg is violating the law, it would not be a first for a member of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, the anti-gun organization he founded,” Gottlieb added. “At least 18 members of that group have been prosecuted for various crimes, which is not a track record I’d be proud of.

“Obviously,” he observed, “Mayor Bloomberg did not think things through before he suggested this preposterous course of action. If the nation’s police were to walk off the job today, by tomorrow, American citizens would be flocking to gun stores to purchase firearms for personal protection. All his stupid statement will do is increase gun sales.

“Maybe Bloomberg wants to replace Barack Obama as the unofficial gun salesman of the year,” Gottlieb concluded.

CCRKBA to Bloomberg:* ‘Maybe YOU should go on strike, Mr. Mayor’

Who should go on strike ????? Hey Mister big mouth know what I think!!!! I think it is "We the People" from every corner of this Country, in all cities, towns and counties who should go on the massive strike. Stop everything were doing every day, no work, no spending, do nothing, stay at home. Don't spend just call all your politicians and say what you think about them loud and clear, until we get rid of these traitorous politicians. there are so many of them that are working to destroy our Constitution, Bill of Rights, our Country, and way of life. They are stealing from us all, and giving our Country away right from under us all. If any of those so called public servants go on strike "fire them"!!!!!!! Wake Up!

Bloomberg: Cops Should Go On Strike Until Americans Surrender Their Guns

Note from Alex Jones: Bloomberg is illustrating what an out of control despot he is, not content to simply sue gun manufacturers nationwide and destroy our right to self-defense. He is now inciting police to engage in a type of paramilitary coup threatening anarchy and holding the people hostage. I say we call their bluff. Police should go on strike and we’ll see the cities where guns have been confiscated like New York, L.A. and Chicago descend into flame and other areas where the public are armed will see a drop in crime. But the police won’t actually go on strike because all they want to do is revenue generate. Bloomberg, get out of my country. Why don’t you go with Piers Morgan and get the hell out of America and go to North Korea? You are nothing but a crime boss and a degenerate tyrant.

New York’s gun-grabbing mayor Michael Bloomberg told Piers Morgan the other night that police around the country should go out on strike until the American people stop practicing their right to own firearms.

Actually, this is one of Bloomberg’s better ideas. Short of directing traffic and filling out paperwork at automobile accidents, the police serve little purpose. Police officialdom readily admits cops do not have an obligation to protect citizens. Citizens well armed and trained in firearm use are far better at protecting their families and property than the police.

Prior to the mid-1800s, Americans were expected to protect themselves and each other. The organized and bureaucratic gangs supported by the state we now call “police” would have been considered a standing army. “The notion of a police force in those days was abhorrent in England and America,” writes Peter Kasler.

Not only are the cops unable and legally not required to protect citizens, they now are often the number one threat to them right behind criminals.

This was demonstrated last week in Anaheim, California, when the police attacked citizens protesting the murder of two people by cops. The police shot rubber bullets and unleashed dogs on the angry protesters. After the brutality was captured on cell phones, the police went into damage control mode and offered to buy the video. Instead, the video went viral on the internet.

Following the attack in Anaheim, activists posted images of the “non-lethal” munitions used by the cops. The police used eXact iMpact 40mm Sponge rounds developed by the U.S. Army Research laboratory.

“The eXact iMpactTM 40 mm Sponge Round will prove most successful for incapacitation when used within its optimal energy range of approximately 5 – 36 meters,” a document issued by the manufacturer, Safariland, explains. It induces “sufficient pain stimulus” and is designed to “enhance chemical munitions, or targeting specific agitators and organizers of the crowd” exercising their First Amendment right to protest against police violence.

It’s too bad the cops will not follow Bloomberg’s advice. If they did, attack dogs would not be unleashed on children and citizens wouldn’t be shot in the back with “sponge” bullets developed by the Pentagon. If the cops went away, people would get back to their roots and rediscover the responsibility of self-defense instead of relying on a parasitical state to not protect them from criminals both in and out of government.

    Addendum

Following his seditious comment, Bloomberg “clarified” his comments. “He clarified Tuesday that he didn’t mean it literally. He says New York law prevents police strikes,” according to CBS DC.

From Wikipedia: “A police strike occurs when law enforcement is affected by a labour dispute. They are extremely rare. Generally, they are illegal, but for obvious reasons this law is difficult to enforce. The few times throughout history when there has been a large scale strike among law enforcement, civil unrest has resulted.”

Michael Bloomberg should be arrested immediately for the equivalent of screaming fire in a crowded theater.

Bloomberg is a GLOBALIST; so you have to think like a GLOBALIST to understand him

    1. GLOBALIST's would LOVE to Disarm America and will go to any lengh to acheive that goal; they will say ANYTHING; they will do ANYTHING

    2. GLOBALIST'S like Bloomberg want U.S. Soldiers in the streets of America... if America will not accept that you have to give them a reason to BEG for it

~ you do that by creating chaos which is easilly achieved by getting the police to go on strike

    Heres Where it would backfire

in many areas... crime would go WAY down because citizens would love to get a hold of any child molester and handle it themselves

areas like a Bloomberg's disarmed New York / Chicago ... the crime rate would go through the ceiling

they want your guns; they want TYRANNY ... it's a Two for the Price of One

the GLOBALIST's have a way of getting what they want

this is well thought out.. and very calculating by the GLOBALIST'S

This was an Act of Treason

This was an Act of Sedition

The Globalist's do NOT want to go to Prison for all of the crimes they commited; the only way to ensure that they do NOT get put behind bars is to DISARM AMERIKA

Big-time gun-grabber heads for the tall grass

He's one of America's most outspoken opponents of the Second Amendment (he can afford to be -- he has taxpayer-funded security).

Now he's in full retreat over his scofflaw proposal that would have left families defenseless and armed criminals in full control of the streets ...

    Bloomberg backs down on cop-strike-for-gun-control

Called for police officers to take job action to force change to firearm laws

    Published: 1 hour ago

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg is backing away from his call earlier this week for an illegal strike by police officers, saying now that he didn’t mean a “literal” strike.

On the Piers Morgan show on CNN earlier this week, Bloomberg was reacting to the fact that the suspect in the Aurora, Colo., mass murder had a shotgun, a rifle and two handguns.

“I don’t understand why the police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say we’re going to go on strike,” he said on the show.

He said the officers should send the message, “We’re not going to protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe.”

Bloomberg is the co-founder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns and has lobbied for more rules, restrictions and regulations for guns over and over again.

He said, “Police officers want to go home to their families. And we’re doing everything we can to make their job more difficult, but more importantly, more dangerous, by leaving guns in the hands of people who shouldn’t have them and letting people who have those guns buy things like armor-piercing bullets. The only reason to have an armor-piercing bullet is to go through a bullet-resistant vest. The only people that wear bullet-resistant vets are our police officers.”

But according to a report on New York’s CBS affiliate, a strike by police officers in New York would violate state law.

Bloomberg “clarified” his remarks in light of that, the report said.

“I don’t mean literally go on strike,” he told the station. “Keep in mind, it is police officers who run into danger when the rest of us run out. Police officers have families. They want to come home to their families safely.”

The suspect in the Aurora shootings last week at a theater showing a new Batman movie was arrested by police when they arrived on the scene. He had used a shotgun, a rifle with a 100-round clip and two handguns to shooting 70 people, including 12 who died.

The attack immediately sparked suggestions from a wide range of sources that the U.S. should impose more rules and regulations for gun ownership.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Barack Obama said he would be seeking more limits.

“For every Columbine or Virginia Tech, there are dozens gunned down on the streets of Chicago and Atlanta, and here in New Orleans,” he said. “For every Tucson or Aurora there is daily heartbreak over young Americans shot in Milwaukee or Cleveland. And when there’s extraordinary heartbreak and tragedy like the one we saw, there’s always an outcry immediately after for action.

“There’s talk of new reforms and there’s talk of new legislation. And too often those efforts are defeated by politics and by lobbying and eventually by the pull of our collective attention elsewhere,” he said.

CBS reported that likely GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney noted that more gun laws probably would not have changed things.

“A lot of what this … young man did was clearly against the law. But the fact that it was against the law did not prevent it from happening,” he said.
