Lindsey Graham says Jeff Sessions may step down after midterms

By Jeff Mordock - The Washington Times - Monday, November 5, 2018

Sen. Lindsey Graham said in an interview Monday that Attorney General Jeff Sessions may step down after this week’s midterm elections.

“Jeff will probably step down. We’ll have a new attorney general most likely early next year,” Mr. Graham, South Carolina Republican, said on conservative talk show host Hugh Hewitt’s radio program.

The senator, who is said to be angling to lead the Senate Judiciary Committee next year, also dispelled rumors he’s interested becoming attorney general saying he would prefer to remain in the Senate.

“And people ask me about being attorney general and other jobs,” Mr. Graham said. “I will be in the NBA before I leave the Senate. And I don’t like my chances.”

Mr. Hewitt had asked about Mike Luttig, a former federal judge who is now general counsel of Boeing, as a possible replacement for Mr. Sessions. Mr. Graham did not respond about potential successors, but said that he did view Mr. Luttig as a possible Supreme Court justice.

I actually hope this doesn't happen and they can get the DOJ on track, running the way it should, according to basic, fundamental law, free of targets, witch hunts, frame ups, and violations of both law and civil rights. Can Jeff do this? I don't know. Sessions is such a nice man in so many ways but I don't think he wanted to be Attorney General to clean up the US Department of Justice, I don't think he wanted the position to do that, I think he wanted the position to work on immigration and crime, very important, but lurking in the DOJ was a level of corruption that to this day is blowing my mind and I don't know if Jeff Sessions can or even wants to tackle that type of correction. I hope he does or can. If he does and can, I support him remaining as our Attorney General.
