NORTH HILLS - A tour bus passenger died last night after getting off a bus, falling and hitting the pavement near an off-ramp of the San Diego (405) Freeway in North Hills, according to authorities.

The accident occurred on the Nordhoff Street off-ramp of the southbound San Diego Freeway around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to California Highway Patrol Officer David Porter.

A passenger on a tour bus from Mexico apparently became upset when the bus developed brake problems and demanded to be let off.

The bus driver complied, allowing the passenger off the bus, but upon exiting, he fell and hit the pavement hard.

The injured passenger was taken to a hospital, where he later died.

There were about 20 people on the tour bus, Porter said.

The No. 2 lane of the off-ramp was shut down for about three hours following the accident, he said.

The San Diego freeway doesn't even go to San Diego, just thought I would add another weird tale here.

People are just weird.
