Obamacare: About 100,000 sign up on HealthCare.gov in November

About 100,000 people signed up for insurance on HealthCare.gov in November, according to a report in Bloomberg News.

If accurate, that would be about four times as many people who signed up in October, during the troubled first month of the federal health care website — a sign that improvements to the website are making a difference.

Still, it falls far below the Obama administration's original projections of about 800,000 sign-ups in the first two months.

The administration will release official enrollment figures for the month of November in a couple weeks after double-checking the figures. A spokeswoman for the Department of Health and Human Services said Monday that sign-ups through state websites, call centers and other sources would boost the final number.

This weekend marked the administration's self-imposed deadline to make fixes to the website, which it now says works smoothly for most users, although problems remain.

The last day to sign up for insurance that begins on new year's day is Dec. 23. Experts expect a crush of new sign-ups in the days leading up to that deadline.
