Medicare's annual open enrollment period began Wednesday.

Those interested can sign up for Medicare or make changes to their benefits for 2015 – including prescription drug coverage.

Experts say Medicare customers will have fewer plans to choose from this year, but they will also have plenty of options.

In some cases, premiums may decline, while other plans may have higher rates.

The enrollment period runs though December 7 and coverage starts on January 1.

Customers who are satisfied with their current plan do not need to do anything.

Those who already have Medicare or are looking to enroll in a new plan can call 1-800-MEDICARE or visit www.medicare.gov for plan information.

Medicare is administered by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid. You must be 65 or older and be a U.S. citizen or have permanent residency to be eligible.
