He could have a million motives but one question we don't know yet was if he had to show his license.
I think the cop may have been talked to with less than reverence, and that probably set off a chain of events that lead to a taser to "show him his place" even if he was a rookie on a professional team.
In the end, I don't know. I'm just guessing along with everyone else.

You may be right about that. I don't know if he had to show his license.

Whoa, hold the bus. Police officers risk their lives on a daily basis enforcing the laws. As a police officer you can never be too cautious or safe. Refusing to remove his hands from his pockets was reason enough to taser him in my opinion. He could have had anything in his pocket (hand), including a Kahr Arms P380. This handgun is only 4.9" in length (professional basketball player = large hands). The number one piece of advise to anyone being questioned by police is to do exactly as told. Yes, he was confrontational and resisted arrest. In my view he got exactly what was called for and deserved. This isn't a racial thing, it's a resisting law enforcement when you're obviously in the wrong thing (the color of ones skin doesn't figure into it). The basketball player created this incident, not the police. Yep, I'm suggesting the same thing would probably have happened even if the guy was white, yellow, or green!

How do you identify someone if they refuse to produce an I.D. when requested?

    Don't show your ID
Don't take your hands out of your pockets
    Do not cooperate
Keep that chip on your shoulder
    Scowl
    Mouth off

If the cop was worried during a field interview, he could have cuffed the subject but he did not. If you would Taze a man for that, and in that exact circumstance, I'd sue you for everything you don't have. A Taser is an intermediate weapon in the use of force continuum for most police department. Every paycheck you earn for the rest of your life would belong to me.

For everyone that see "resistance". That's not what the media or police are saying. I'm sure their vision is impaired by something very obvious.

What baffles me is that young black men keep falling for the okey-doke! Black people deal with police in very different ways than you think.

They are not all looking to play victim as you are! Many just want to live and let live. And because, unlike you, they don't go looking for trouble, they generally don't end up being abused!
