Six Muslim men masquerading as police officers surrounded a car full of wedding party guests — both men and women — and began to gang rape all of them in full public view. One of the victims was a pregnant woman. The attackers also looted the car and were eventually arrested after the incident.
The assault took place in Kabul, Afghanistan, where Chief Gen. Zahir presented the arrested men during a press conference, stating that he would be able to sleep normally for the first time since the incident. According to Zahir, the men were attempting to escape to Iran, but they were caught and arrested in Kabul last week after police were tipped off about the gang. The police chief went on to say that the victims were too ashamed and fearful to lodge a complaint, but medical personnel did confirm that sexual assault took place:“It is beyond my imagination to understand how could these offenders keep torturing poor women for hours while keeping their male relatives bound,” Zahir said.
The incident took place in Afghanistan’s conservative society, and there have been calls for the culprits to be publicly executed.
Although this took place in Afghanistan, these are the types of people who are currently running rampant across the Middle East. With our borders wide open, and people of interest coming over through student visas, it’s frightening to think that these types of individuals might already be somewhere in our country.
