    Is it over yet?

    John McCain's true legacy.

    Is it over yet?

    By DH Butler

There’s a huge difference between the solemn, sorrowful citizens who lined the streets to say good-bye to Ronald Reagan, John Kennedy, and FDR and the rubberneckers hoping to catch a glimpse of celebrity politicians putting in a public appearance for the late Senator McCain’s multiple memorials. Releasing those men we loved from afar to a higher and happier place bears no resemblance to spectators taking part in one of the “scheduled events” posted strategically on the Fox News website and elsewhere.

Despite of the wall-to-wall media coverage of a seemingly unending series of funeral services (five at last count), this nation does not mourn the passing of a hero. Yes, dignitaries showed up and slid fake praise into orations meant for something other than a heartfelt memorial to the dearly departed. John McCain may have been dear to a few people, but for the rest of us (and most likely 99% of the people invited to be part of his ostentatious Display of the Dead), he remains a clear and present exemplar of a petty plutocracy and blatant self-service. One ecstatic writer called it the “biggest resistance meeting yet” as Her Father’s Daughter saddled the next generation with the bitter Sins of the Father and was celebrated for embracing what many have called a world-class grudge. Somehow, she missed the message that “John called on us to be bigger… and better than that.” Others, disgusted by the “political theatrics and cheap shots” recognized her father’s signature spitefulness -- nasty to the end and beyond. Yet it was the observation of a high-school junior that explained a certain hollowness to every news anchor’s claim that a nation mourns. CJ Pearson wrote: “At most funerals I’ve attended, it’s God’s love that fills the room, not hate and animus for a person who is not even in attendance.”
This nation does not mourn John McCain who in a final act of self-aggrandizing mythmaking, personally planned a weeklong spectacle to weaponize a sacred cultural tradition meant to remember and honor the dead. This may become his most enduring legacy. An insatiably vindictive man, his equally malicious family, and all those eager to participate in a six-minute trash-talk tribute have radically transformed one of the last public opportunities to share our humanity. We do not mourn, we cannot mourn, and we should not mourn one who in death chose to even a score only he was keeping.

Yes, it's over. It was dead and buried yesterday. Good-bye, McCain.

X1000 thumbs up...glad it is OVER!

    Who is next?

Can we expect the same for Bill, Hillary, Obama, G.W., the list is long.

I hope there are rules and guidelines put in place now...and not one taxpayer dime to pay for this disgrace!

Isn't this basically what I said on here a couple days ago? I believe it is. I personally have never seen someone's funeral used to attack another individual. I also said how someone's funeral is usually used to celebrate that person's life, not to attack another person. It was one of the most disgraceful scenes I have ever seen in my life. And the sad thing is that the democrats are painting McCain and his family/friends as "tolerant" for doing so. It's insane......and absolutely despicable and disgusting.

Our nation isn't mourning John McCain. John McCain is mourning John McCain. McCain set up this show, he planned every detail himself from his sick bed. None of these events were planned by someone else in his honor, he planned them all for himself.

He sure did, and so did his family and friends. It just goes to show what a hateful and resentful, bitter person he was. I have never in my entire life seen this before, someone planning their own funeral to be an attack on someone else. It's absolutely sickening.

All those people except maybe Lindsey Graham are all laughing at him behind his back. The whole thing was that unseemly.

How much backlash will there be to the 8 days of McCainapalooza?

I suspect a lot of unspoken discontent and anger are out there over the psy-ops campaign that has been waged for over a week to tell us how noble it is to pick fights with President Trump.

How much backlash will there be to the 8 days of McCainapalooza?

    By Thomas Lifson

I don’t know about you, but when the video coverage of the death of Senator John McCain began a week ago Saturday, I reached satiation well before the live coverage concluded with his burial at the United States Naval Academy. Yes, he was a brave war hero that endured years of brutal captivity in North Vietnam, and all of us honor that. But as a politician, his main legislative legacy is a failed campaign finance act, one of those bipartisan feel-good efforts that backfired and made things worse.
So, how is it that his passing and a week’s worth of scheduled events merited wall-to-wall coverage? President Kennedy’s assassination required two days of live coverage for the death and funeral. I am hopeful that the Media Research Center will tabulate the total hours of coverage and compare it to the live coverage of events around the death of President Ronald Reagan. My impression is that McCain received more hours.

Or, compare the passing of Admiral James Stockdale to that of John McCain. Admiral Stockdale was a POW in Hanoi for over 7 years, a year-and-a-half longer than McCain. Like McCain, he was a very special prisoner in the eyes of the North Vietnamese, for he was the senior officer among the POWs. His prominent status was based on his achievements and consequent promotion, whereas McCain was regarded as important because of who his father and grandfather were.
Like John McCain, Admiral Stockdale ran an unsuccessful campaign on a national presidential ticket – as Ross Perot’s running mate. Unlike McCain, Admiral Stockdale was a Medal of Honor recipient.
So, did you even know that Admiral Stockdale passed away in 2005? Thankfully, his funeral was televised – by C-SPAN. But I do not recall any regular programming on Fox News or anywhere else being interrupted to honor Admiral Stockdale. Maybe I missed some, but there is no comparison with the coverage afforded McCain, whose military heroism was no greater, and probably less than that of Stockdale.
My breaking point, when anger overcame every other reaction was August 29, when Senator McCain lying in state in the Arizona capitol was televised, and then the procession of his hearse to the airport was televised live, from helicopters and a camera mounted on a car in front of his hearse, and driven down the endless streets of Phoenix. There was a respite while the presidential fleet 757 offered by President Trump to carry his body the DC was airborne. I guess a spotter jet to televise the airliner in flight was impractical due to Air Traffic Control considerations. Bur fear not, the landing of the 757, the transfer of the coffin to a hearse, and then the drive into the US Capitol was televised. Endlessly. I know because I flipped over from Netflix from time to time to see if it was still going on. It was.

A beloved president like Reagan gets such fawning coverage (for a couple of days); an ordinary one, maybe not. Nixon, definitely not.
Now, in terms of manners, it is wrong to complain about honors to a war hero. So my assumption is that a lot of unspoken discontent and anger are out there over the psy-ops campaign that has been waged for over a week to tell us how noble it is to pick fights with President Trump. The anger is justified because a very human response of honoring the dead has been perverted by the DC establishment and all the news networks into a propaganda campaign against {resident Trump and his supporters. We remember when McCain called us “wacko birds,” and we understand the message that all these excessive honors and coverage is really sending to us.
Repressed anger tends to linger in the mind and heart. I hope that it lasts until November 6.

It's been the most sickening display of McCain Egoism possible, and will be remembered as the true release of who he was and wasn't.
