Police have arrested a nanny accused of killing two small children in a luxury apartment building on Manhattan's affluent Upper West Side.

The children's mother came home to find the nanny wielding a knife and her two children, aged 3 and 5, dead in a bathtub, police said.
The nanny had also stabbed herself, police said.

Some outlets reported two additional people, both adults, also were stabbed, but that could not be confirmed by ABC News.

The victims were all taken to a nearby hospital as police cars stayed at the scene stopping traffic at rush hour.

The mother arrived home around 5:30 p.m. to discover the nanny with the knife still in her hand, police said. After 911 calls, police and ambulances quickly responded to the building called La Rochelle, according to WABC-TV in New York.
