    LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Lawrence police were investigating after a Kansas National Guardsman said he was attacked outside his apartment.

    Army Specialist Marion Coleman III said two men assaulted him Sunday night when he tried to move his car.

    He said he was struck from behind, beaten and cut with a sharp object.

    He also said he found a brick wrapped in a burned American flag thrown through the screen on his apartment door.
