1. Change the Story Project Application
******PLEASE READ*******
Thanks for applying to CMJ's "Change the Story" Project!
This project is a year-long initiative that will involve 3-5 organizations collaborating with CMJ on high-profile PR campaigns that advance racial justice narratives around Criminal Justice and/or Immigrant Detention.
Organizations that sign-on are expected to have ongoing campaigns that have an opportunity to impact regional and national dialogues around these critical issues. CMJ will work with these organizations to increase the impact of these campaigns to create replicable models, useable by other grassroots organizations, for moving new messages and stories.
Participant organizations will be expected to commit 3-5 hours per month from November-December for initial planning and training on PR tactics and tools. From January on, participants should expect to engage in high-level PR outreach and strategy with CMJ up to 15 hours per month. Additionally, participants are expected to attend an initial convening in November and a closing convening at CMJ's Communicate Justice Leadership Institute in April, with travel and lodging costs covered by CMJ.
As a result, participant organizations are expected to have enough staffing capacity to handle the workload. The organization need not have a dedicated "communications staffer", but must have someone with basic knowledge and experience and campaign and PR strategy.
