Police: Pa. suspect wanted guns to overthrow gov't

HARRISBURG, Pa. — Court records say a member of a group bent on overthrowing the U.S. government shot and killed a lawyer at a south-central Pennsylvania gun range last month so he could take his rifle.

A police affidavit says prison guard Raymond Franklin Peake III told detectives he and co-defendant Thomas Franklin Tuso are members of an extremist group he wouldn't name. It says Peake told police he found lawyer Todd Getgen dead at the range and took his AR-15.

The affidavit says Peake admitted he's been stealing guns to help the group.

Peake faces charges including homicide and robbery in the death at a gun range near Carlisle, a borough of about 18,000 residents. Tuso is accused of theft and other crimes.

Both were suspended without pay by Camp Hill state prison Friday. Neither has a lawyer on record.

(This version CORRECTS defendant Tuso's middle name to Franklin, not Frankin.)

This is what happens when you have a renegade government out of control for decades. I don't agree. I find it frightening. But what on earth could they expect?
