Man forces way onto Lake Stevens-bound school bus, steals backpacks

    By Jennifer Sullivan

    Seattle Times staff reporter

A man was arrested this morning after he forced his way onto a school bus and stole several students' backpacks, police said.

The man, in his 30s, was arrested near Everett for investigation of robbery and kidnapping, said Snohomish County Sheriff spokeswoman Rebecca Hover. The man climbed aboard the bus, which was bound for Glenwood Elementary School in Lake Stevens, in the 3400 block of 97th Drive Southeast around 8:30 a.m. and snatched the backpacks.

Several of the children recognized the man and told deputies where he lived, Hover said. The man told investigators that he took the backpacks because he believed there were drugs in them, which Hover said was untrue.

Hover said that no one on the bus was hurt.

Arlene Hulten, spokeswoman for the Lake Stevens School District, said the 38 students on the bus, who ranged from kindergarten through fifth grade, met with a counselor at school this morning before heading to class. She said the stolen backpacks were returned to the students.

Oh sure....most kids ages 5 - 10 on their way to school are carrying drugs in their little packs. They disguise them as lunches and books to throw off the dogs

    The delusional freak..........
