Only Four People Enroll in Obamacare in Delaware

Only Four People Enroll in Obamacare in Delaware

by Breitbart News 7 Nov 2013, 1:37 PM PDT 53 post a comment

In Delaware, no more than four people enrolled for health care insurance on the now much-maligned Healthcare.gov website. Certainly, this is less than the Obama administration was hoping for.

According to healthcare officials and as reported by the Associated Press, the low turnout was a direct result of the flawed website and difficulty completing background checks for healthcare navigators.
On Wednesday, admitting at a senate hearing that a new report coming out next week will show enrollment numbers for Obamacare are "quite low," Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said she hopes things will get better. “I’m hoping that with the site improvement we’ll see more robust numbers, but until the site is really improved... we’re going to have a struggle getting significant numbers to sign up,” she stated.
Delaware may not be alone when it comes to low enrollment figures. One major North Carolina healthcare provider reported receiving only one sign up so far since Obamacare took effect.

Delaware Spends $4 Million on Obamacare Enrollment, Signs Up Four People

    November 7, 2013 | Joe Schoffstall - 92 Comments

The state of Delaware spent $4 million in federal grant money on Obamacare enrollment and has only signed up four people in the last month– effectively costing taxpayers $1 million per enrollee.

Alyssa Canobbioat Americans for Tax Reform writes:
Delaware has finally released its Obamacare enrollment number: Four.

Yes, a grand total of four state residents have fully enrolled in Obamacare. The cost to American taxpayers: $1 million per enrollee.

The state spent $4 million in federal grant money on four community organizations. Two of the community organizations have yet to have a single successful enrollment. The state blames the glitchy website and delays in background checks for the marketplace guides.

The Washington Post adds that as of Tuesday, Delaware had 31 enrollment applications and 218 accounts created for “possible enrollment.”
