'Blood EVERYWHERE' - Man stabbed in 'FACE' on London Underground near Mile End

A MAN was stabbed while he was sat on a Central Line train on the London Underground between Stratford and Mile End, British Transport Police have confirmed as a wave of violence grips the capital.

The victim was "stabbed in the face" and there was "blood everywhere", according to witnesses.
British Transport Police (BPT) said detectives are currently appealing for information.
In a statement police said: "The incident happened between Stratford and Mile End and was reported to police at 12.47am this morning.
"Officers from the BTP attended, along with medics from the London Ambulance service who treated the victim for what is believed to be non-life threatening injuries.

"Detectives have released a CCTV image of a man they believe has information that could help their investigation.
"Likewise, officers would be keen to speak with anyone who witnessed the attack."
Pictures emerged on social media, showing large amounts of blood on the floor of the train.
A woman, who witnessed the attack, told the Daily Star that people were “shouting” in the carriage when she got on the Central Line at Stratford station.

The witness said she could not hear the argument, which is believed to have led to the stabbing.
She said: “Before the train got to Mile End people were screaming and jumping up from there seats.”
A man, who she believes was the suspect in the attack, ran off the train at Mile End station, according to the witness.
She continued: "That is when I saw this man stumbling and people told him he should get off the train but the doors closed on him before he could and he stumbled to the floor.

"People helped him up and put him back onto the seat and I thought he might have been drunk as I didn't see the blood yet.
"Then a woman told me he had been stabbed in the face by someone sitting next to him.
"I was shocked it happened so fast."
The witness confirmed the man was taken off the train when it arrived at Bethnal Green station.

The Office for National Statistics (ONS) identified 40,147 offences “involving a knife or sharp instrument” in the year ending March 2018.
Gun crime has also increased, but at a lesser rate than knife-related crime - rising by two percent to 6,492 cases in the same period.
