I think I am safe in saying America's trust in Almighty God, The One True and Living God is weaker now than in the entire history of this nation.

I'm far from being a dedicated church goer however I do believe with all my heart that our growing problems are tied to removal of GOD from public schools and society at large. Society needs a common bond and it is simply missing in todays world.
I'm old with many opinions few solutions.

This nation was born out of a religious revolution as much as it was a political one. How can a nation survive without a conscience, soul, or enough integrity to discern good from evil?
Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.

"In God We Trust" was added in 1956. Since 1956, have things gotten better or worse? As a person that KNOWS there is a God, our country has gotten worse at the hands of "christians" that live ungodly lives. We accept things that Jesus was against.
Let me ask this SIMPLE question. What would Jesus be more angry at, not having the word "God" on a coin, or his disciples supporting ungodly politicians? HMMM......think about it.Don't think about all the things you fear, just be glad you're here.

From both the 'Christian' and the secular or agnostic views, you bring up valid argument that simply for a candidate to proclaim they are a 'Christian' does not make them a moral person.
This is proven out in each major political party repeatedly where the candidate will mouth lip service to God during their campaigns in trying to secure the 'Christian' vote, only to immediately proclaim whatever the issue they campaigned on over moral grounds suddenly becomes a 'State's Issue' once they are in office, thus completely reneging on not only their promise to uphold morality, but also outright lying to God on their oaths to serve as moral leaders.
I know you can name many names and examples of this. Abortion and gay rights are the two most prominent moral issues used to get into office, then dumped once the golden calf has been secured.Join our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & to secure US borders by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn

Simply claiming allegiance or membership in a religious organization does not necessarily make one a moral or just person.

If anyone has noticed, it is uncanny how much Ron Paul and Obama have in common on different issues. They both give different reasons why they believe as they do, but sadly, you get the same results in the end.Ron Paul in 2011 "[...]no amnesty should be granted. Maybe a 'green card' with an asterisk should be issued[...]a much better option than deportation."
