    OK: Voters to decide Voter ID law.

    Minutes after Gov. Brad Henry vetoed a voter identification bill, House members today approved a bill that will let voters decide whether some type of identification should be required before voters could cast a ballot.

    The House passed Senate Bill 692, which would let voters decide whether voters should be required to show a photo identification issued by a state, federal or tribal government before voting. Under the measure, voters would also be able to show their free voter identification card issued by their county election board.

    It is similar to Republican-backed Senate Bill 4, which the governor vetoed. However, it does not extend the period for in-person absentee voting as SB 4 did.

    Because the Senate already passed SB 692, it goes straight to the secretary of state's office. It does not need the governor's signature for approval because it is a legislative referendum. The governor later will determine an election date.

    Oh no! What is going on?
    One note: a tribal ID is great, but one guy in Fla. was selling fake memberships in a tribe in the Northwest who had never heard of him (some shell tribe).
