A new poll reveals that New Jersey residents are against both driver's licenses for illegal aliens and in-state tuition benefits for the children of illegal aliens. The Monmouth University/Gannett New Jersey poll conducted in February shows that 62% oppose a limited type of driver's license and only 32% support in-state tuition rates for children of illegal aliens.

"What this tells me is that this issue is a real hot potato right now," said Patrick Murray, director of the Monmouth University Polling Institute in West Long Branch, in a Gannett New Jersey report. "It reflects the tough job you (the state) have to go out there and sell this to a public that is already not very supportive."

Gov. Jon S. Corzine has been working with an advisory council on how to best integrate illegal aliens into the state's university system. But the results of the poll show that only 20% of New Jersey residents favor in-state tuition for children of illegal aliens and 39% believe the state should completely bar undocumented students from the state schools.
