WASHINGTON (CIRCA via MOBIUS.LAB) — Uruguay became the first country in the world to legalize recreational marijuana in 2017, following the legalization of marijuana use and growing in 2013.
Since, the Latin American country has seen drug-related crime drop by 20 percent.
Experts say legalization has taken the country out of the war on drugs. Drug trafficking cases are less common; so are violent crimes involving Mexican and Colombian drug cartels.
