Yep, and it certainly doesn't make any sense! The prison reform bill is only supported by those soft on crime and criminals. I guess he's attempting to show that he can work with the Democrats even though it will piss off the majority of his base of support! He needs to quit being distracted with side issues and concentrate on securing our country and dealing with our multiple immigration problems!

During Trump's campaign for the presidency he gave the impression he would be a 'law and order' kind of president that was tough on crime. Well, I guess that was before Javanka (Jared Kushner & Ivanka) got their hooks in him. Trump used to share Jeff Sessions position on prison reform .... against it. However, as I've said in the past, he's easily manipulated as evidenced by his position change on DACA and other issues. Ironically, it was Javanka that also worked on Trump to continue to protect DACA members even though he promised otherwise during his campaign.

I guess Trump wants to be like Obama. He too released thousands of criminals from prison early, including illegal aliens that were never deported.

Regardless of what Trump and a few Republican congressman say, being soft on crime and criminals is not what the majority of conservative voters want and certainly isn't what the majority of Trump's base supporters want!

Yes, the majority of career criminal felons released early that do actually vote will support the liberal party because of their reputation of being weak on crime.

The Republican party has the reputation of being tough on crime and rightfully so. While some Republican voters may want to take up the liberal position on this, I'd bet a strong majority don't.
