Putin: Russia Has Evidence Su-24 Shot Down to Protect Daesh Oil Deliveries

By Jim W. Dean, Managing Editor on November 30, 2015

    … from Spunik, Moscow
[ Editor’s Note: If I am reading this right Putin is slowly tormenting Erdogan with his corruption leaks, which Erdo will deny over and over, and then Puti will lay the kabosh on him at a time of his choosing. But Putin likes to work indirectly so whatever information Russia has might be given to third parties to use.

One I can think of off the top of my head is Syria who needs the Intel on the oil diversion to pursue its case for reparations in the courts. Putin would look like a heel after all of this hinting not to use what he has. But I suspect he is watching what the Turkish military is doing as it is always less risky to let others do for you what you want done.

Either way Putin’s best revenge is to destroy the plans of the Western scamsters and their Gulf buddies to carve up Syria, killing a quarter million, over a million wounded and maimed, and 11 million refugees created in the process. I would say some serious consequences should be tied to a crime like that…state immunity, or no state immunity. I guess that just makes me an old meanie!.. Jim W. Dean ]

Discussing the matter with world leaders during the Paris climate talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Moscow has evidence that the Su-24 was shot down by Turkey to protect oil deliveries of the ISIL terrorist group, also known as Daesh, and that oil from IS-controlled fields is being exported to Turkey on an industrial scale.

“We have every reason to believe that the decision to shoot down our aircraft was dictated by the desire to ensure the safety of supply routes of oil to Turkey, to the ports where they are shipped in tankers,” Putin said.
Discussing the matter with world leaders during the Paris climate talks, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that most colleagues agree there was no need to attack the Su-24 bomber, as it was not threatening Turkey.

Putin also stressed that whether or not the order to shoot down the aircraft came directly from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, it was still a “huge mistake.”

“We have heard from the Turkish side that this decision was not made by the president, it was made by other people. For us, it does not matter much, the important thing is that two of our servicemen died as a result of this criminal move,” he told reporters.

In response, Erdogan denied that his country buys oil from Daesh, and called Putin’s comments “slander.”

“We buy from Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan, Qatar, and Nigeria. We won’t accept such slanders,” he told reporters in Paris.
He also added that he will resign from office if the allegations can be proven.

“The accusation that Turkey allegedly buys crude oil from the Islamic State is unacceptable, and to say it is amoral. You can’t just say things, you need to present evidence,” he said. “If documents exist — let’s see them. If this fact is proven, I will not stay in my position.”

Putin also said that the Syria conflict was to be a main topic of bilateral meetings during the summit, with hopes that anti-terror cooperation with France, in particular, will “go further” than with other countries.

He said that despite the downing of the Su-24 by Ankara, Moscow will continue to strive for a broad, international coalition to combat the terrorist group, adding that he regrets the deterioration of relations between Russia and Turkey.
“I think that this is regrettable for all of us,” Putin said. “And for me personally it’s a real pity, because I myself did much to build up relations with Turkey over the course of a long period of time.”

Speaking with US President Barack Obama, Putin stressed that there is a general agreement on Syria’s future, and that new elections are necessary.

As the climate talks continue through the week, the White House has confirmed that Obama will meet with President Erdogan on Tuesday.

    Putin is possibly correct;
Erdoğan who always sheds crocodile tears for the plight of Syrian trapped between the hammer of hunger and the anvil of ISIL extremism, conceals the fact that his own son, Bilal Erdoğan, is involved in lucrative business of smuggling the Iraqi and Syrian plundered oil. Bilal Erdoğan who owns several maritime companies, had allegedly signed contracts with European operating companies to carry Iraqi stolen oil to different Asian countries.

Turkey raises stakes in Russia feud

Turkish leader: I'll quit if Putin's claim about plane is true

By Brian Walker and Ralph Ellis, CNN
Updated 2:49 PM ET, Tue December 1, 2015 | Video Source: CNN

(CNN)Tensions between Russia and Turkey, already playing different roles in Syria's bloody civil war, escalated with the downing of a Russian warplane on November 24.

It's the most recent clash in a series of disputes between the two countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Monday accused Turkey of shooting down the plane to protect secret oil trade with the terrorist group ISIS. He said the plane was actually going to attack ISIS targets in Syria.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said the plane violated Turkish airspace. He said he'll resign if Moscow can prove its claim.

"As soon as such a claim is proved, the nobility of our nation requires (me) to do this," Erdogan told reporters at the climate change summit in Paris on Monday.

But, he added, if the allegations are untrue, then Putin should resign.

"I am asking Mr. Putin, would you remain?"

So far, Putin has not responded to that question.

    Obama warns Putin on Syria

    Economic sanctions

Moscow struck back economically after the plane was shot down, banning the import of some Turkish goods, imposing restrictions on travel and planning to stop some Turkish companies doing business in Russia, CNNMoney reported.

Russia also took steps to restrict Russians from traveling to Turkey, which could hit the Turkish tourism industry hard.

The two countries hold widely different views about how to end the Syrian civil war and what should happen to Syria's leader.

Ankara's position is that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad has to go for the conflict to end -- a position also held by the United States.

Moscow backs Assad. In October Russian planes began airstrikes inside Syria.

Airspace has been a friction point in the past.

In early October, Turkey said it intercepted a Russian jet
that violated its airspace. The jet moved away when confronted by Turkish planes, Turkey said. Turkey then delivered a stern warning to the Russian ambassador.

Russia denied any aggressive intent, saying bad weather caused its jet to go off course.

    Turkey: Putin's claim untrue

With his latest accusation, Putin is accusing Turkey of cooperating with ISIS.

"We have recently received additional reports that confirm that oil from ISIL-controlled territories is delivered to the territory of Turkey on an industrial scale," he said, according to TASS news agency. (ISIS is also referred to as ISIL.)

"We have all grounds to suspect that the decision to down our plane was motivated by the intention to secure these routes of delivering oil to ports where it is loaded on tankers," he said.

    Untrue, Erdogan said.

"It is obvious where we legally buy oil and natural gas from," Erdogan said, as reported by Turkey's Anadolu news agency. "Everyone must know that we are not that disreputable to make such a deal with terrorist organizations."

Opinion: Why slain pilot deserves to be honored

    Taking Turkey's side

In the bitter debate over where the Russian warplane was flying when it was shot down, the United States took Turkey's side Monday.

The available information indicates the warplane was in Turkish airspace, State Department spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau said.

Also Monday, the body of the Russian pilot, Lt. Col. Oleg Peshkov, was flown back to Russia.

He's already proven it's true. You shot the plane down over Syria where it crashed. This is called physical evidence that you illegally shot down a plane and murdered a Russian citizen pilot and caused the death of another Russian citizen helicopter pilot shot down by rebels.

Putin doesn't have to prove anything beyond that. He didn't shoot down one of your planes, he didn't murder one of your aircraft pilots and he didn't cause the death of one of your helicopter pilots.

You, Big Fat Crook that you are, are the only guilty one in this tragedy. And we used to like the Turks. But look what you've done to the image of your nation and opinions of your people by your evil deeds.

World War III Draws Closer As Russia Accuses Turkey Of Being ‘Secret Allies’ With ISIS

    TOPICS:ISISMichael Snyder
    December 1, 2015

    By Michael Snyder
Are Russia and Turkey on the verge of going to war? In remarks that were almost entirely ignored by the western media, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov accused the Turkish government of being “secret allies” with ISIS on Friday. And on Monday, the Russians announced that they would be attempting to seal the border between Syria and Turkey, and we also learned that the Russians have been rushing heavy artillery units into Syria. As tensions between Russia and Turkey continue to escalate, could we be in danger of seeing World War III erupt in the Middle East?
The Russians have clearly become convinced that Turkey is at the core of the problems in Syria, and that is why the Russians now plan to completely seal Syria’s border with Turkey. Lavrov seems to think that this will represent a giant step toward defeating terror groups such as ISIS…
“We are convinced that by blocking the border we will in many respects solve the tasks to eradicate terrorism on Syrian soil.”
And the Russians are right about this. ISIS militants use Turkey as a home base, and it has been documented that Turkey has been “training ISIS militants, funneling weapons to them, buying their oil, and tending to their wounded in Turkish hospitals”.

It was already common knowledge that Turkey was doing all of these things, but now the Russian government is publicly accusing the Turkish government of being “secret allies” with ISIS. When Lavrov chose to use these words on Friday, he knew exactly what he was saying…
“We think it highly cynical when some of the countries speak about their commitment to the corresponding United Nations Security Council resolutions and declare themselves members of anti-terrorist coalitions but in reality are playing a game where terrorists are allocated the role of secret allies,” Lavrov stressed. “We have more and more questions about Ankara’s real plans and the degree of its readiness to exterminate terrorism, in particular in Syria, and its commitment to the normalization of the situation in Syria.”
So why would Turkey want to be allies with ISIS?
Well, first of all the Turkish government hates the Assad regime in Syria and would love to see it eliminated.

Secondly, ISIS has been selling hundreds of millions of dollars worth of stolen oil in Turkey, and it has been alleged that the Turkish president’s own family is involved.

This was all supposed to be on the down low, but now the Russians are extremely angry and they are airing this dirty laundry for all the world to see. On Monday, Vladimir Putin said that his government had “received additional information” that ISIS is shipping oil to Turkey on an “industrial scale”
Russia has received additional intelligence confirming that oil from deposits controlled by Islamic State is moved through Turkey on an industrial scale, said Vladimir Putin. President Recep Erdogan said he will resign if this is confirmed.
Moscow has grounds to suspect that the Su-24 was downed by Turkish jets on November 24 to secure illegal oil deliveries from Syria to Turkey, he said speaking on the sidelines of the climate change summit in Paris on Monday.
At the moment we have received additional information confirming that that oil from the deposits controlled by Islamic State militants enters Turkish territory on industrial scale,” he said.
We have every reason to believe that the decision to down our plane was guided by a desire to ensure security of this oil’s delivery routes to ports where they are shipped in tankers,” Putin said.
And of course it isn’t just the Russians that are making these claims.
Mowaffak al Rubaie is a former member of the Iraqi Governing Council, and he says that sales of ISIS oil in Turkey have amounted to approximately 100 million dollars a month

In the last eight months ISIS has managed to sell … $800 million dollars worth of oil on the black market of Turkey. This is Iraqi oil and Syrian oil, carried by trucks from Iraq, from Syria through the borders to Turkey and sold …[at] less than 50 percent of the international oil price,” Mowaffak al Rubaie said in an interview with RT.
“Now this either get consumed inside, the crude is refined on Turkish territory by the Turkish refineries, and sold in the Turkish market. Or it goes to Jihan and then in the pipelines from Jihan to the Mediterranean and sold to the international market.”
“Money and dollars generated by selling Iraqi and Syrian oil on the Turkish black market is like the oxygen supply to ISIS and it’s operation,” he added. “Once you cut the oxygen then ISIS will suffocate.”
You can’t sell 100 million dollars of stolen oil a month without the U.S. government knowing about it.

That means that Barack Obama has been fully aware of what has been going on, and he hasn’t told the American people the truth.

One of the reasons for his silence could be the fact that the president of Turkey’s own son has been involved. Just check out what Syrian Information Minister Omran al-Zoubi said just the other day
“All of the oil was delivered to a company that belongs to the son of Recep [Tayyip] Erdogan. This is why Turkey became anxious when Russia began delivering airstrikes against the IS infrastructure and destroyed more than 500 trucks with oil already. This really got on Erdogan and his company’s nerves. They’re importing not only oil, but wheat and historic artefacts as well.”
For much more on all of this, please see my previous article entitled “The Biggest Obama Scandal? He Knows That Turkey Is Buying Oil From ISIS And He Is Doing Nothing To Stop It“.

Previously, the Russians had promised not to commit ground forces in Syria, but now that appears to be changing.

According to Debka, the Russians have already deployed three battalions of 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers at this point…
First, a body of three battalions of 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers was deployed at Khmeimin and has already started pounding rebel lines and command centers in the area. This heavy artillery system, capable of firing 152mm bombs at a rapid pace, is a veteran of Russia’s former campaigns against Islamic terrorist groups, especially in the Russian war against Islamic rebels in Chechnya in the 1990s.
In addition to the 2S19 Msta-S self-propelled howitzers, the Russians have also brought in TOS-1 220mm multiple rocket launchers
Another heavy weapons system that Russia brought to Syria in recent days is the TOS-1 220mm multiple rocket launcher. This system, which is mounted on the chassis of a T-72 tank, has been deployed near the embattled Syrian cities of Hama and Homs.
With each passing day, we seem to be inching ever closer to the start of World War III. And it is important to keep in mind that if war does break out, Turkey is a member of NATO, and so the U.S. would be obligated by treaty to help defend the Turks. So let’s keep a close eye on what is happening in the Middle East, because it could end up having tremendous implications for all of us.

Russia Accuses Turkey's Erdogan of Involvement With ISIS Oil Trade

by Alexey Eremenko and F. Brinley Bruton 12/2/15

MOSCOW — Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his family are "involved" in ISIS' illegal oil trade and personally benefit from it, Russia alleged Wednesday.
"Turkey is the main destination for the oil stolen from its legitimate owners, which are Syria and Iraq," Russia's Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov told journalists in Moscow. "Turkey resells this oil. The appalling part about it is that the country's top political leadership is involved in the illegal business — President Erdogan and his family."

Russian military officials displayed satellite images that they said showed columns of tanker trucks being loaded with oil at installations controlled by ISIS in Syria and Iraq, and then crossing the border into Turkey.
Antonov did not say what evidence Russia had of Erdogan's involvement — an allegation that the Turkish leader has previously denied.
"In the West, no one has asked questions about the fact that the Turkish president's son heads one of the biggest energy companies, or that his son has been appointed energy minister," Antonov said. "What a marvelous family business!"
He added: "We understand that some of the Turkish leaders, notably Mr. Erdogan, will not step down and will not admit anything. I would like to emphasize that Erdogan's resignation is not our goal. It's up to the people of Turkey to decide."

Erdogan later responded by saying that no one had the right to "slander" Turkey by accusing it of buying oil from ISIS, and that he would stand down if such allegations were proven to be true, according to Reuters.
Speaking at a university in Qatar's capital of Doha, Erdogan added that he did not want relations with Moscow to worsen further.
Russia's comments are the latest in a string of allegations the two countries have exchanged since Turkish forces shot down a Russian warplane on Nov. 24, saying it entered its airspace from Syria. One of the jet's pilots was killed, as well as a Russian Marine sent to rescue him.
Oil smuggling, much of it to Turkey, is a key source of income for ISIS. The group uses the money in part to pay its fighters monthly salaries and provide stipends to their families.
ISIS sees itself as a state, providing an education and welfare system, which means the group has high running costs. Two U.S. counter-terrorism officials told NBC News in July that the amount of money ISIS can earn from selling and smuggling oil and gas is roughly $8 to $10 million a month.
Turkey is part of a U.S.-led coalition of countries fighting ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Russia, meanwhile, supports Syrian President Bashar Assad and has bombed his opponents.
While Moscow says it is also targeting ISIS, the U.S. has accused it of hitting other anti-Assad rebel groups, including fighters supported by Turkey.

Russia, Turkey trade accusations over who bought oil from ISIS

    By Greg Botelho, CNN
Updated 2:16 PM ET, Wed December 2, 2015

(CNN)Russian military officials laid out Wednesday what they say is "hard evidence" that Turkey is involved in an oil trade with ISIS, offering more detail on earlier claims that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has flatly denied.

"We presented evidence how the illegal oil trade is carried out to finance the terrorist groups," Russian Deputy Defense Minister Anatoly Antonov said, as reported by state-run Sputnik news. "We know how much Erdogan's words are worth."

Officials presented photographs and videos that they said show links between Turkey and oil refineries in ISIS-controlled territory in Syria, estimating $3 million worth of oil per day was traversing this route before Russian airstrikes cut that roughly in half. Sergey Rudskoy, one of the military leaders, pointed to "three main routes (that) have been exposed for the transportation of oil to Turkey" -- one ending in Turkish ports on the Mediterranean Sea, another at an oil refinery in Batman and a third in Cizre.

Antonov said "the highest political leadership of the country -- President Erdogan and his family -- are involved in this criminal business," crediting Russian journalists for their reports tyingone of Erdogan's sons to a role in the scheme.

"If they think the evidence is fake, let them make these areas available to journalists," Antonov said, placing the burden on the Turks to disprove Russia's claims.

Keeping up his own tough talk, the Turkish President blasted the allegations as wrong Wednesday during a speech at Qatar University.

"No one has the right to slander Turkey, especially the slander of Turkey buying ISIS oil," Erdogan said. "Turkey has not lost its moral values to buy oil from a terror organization."

    War of words

Wednesday's remarks from both sides were the latest verbal salvos since Turkey shot down a Russian warplane on November 24. Ankara says the plane was given ample warning and was in Turkish airspace; Moscow denies both assertions, saying the aircraft was downed over Syria. One of its pilots was killed, while another was rescued.

The war of words and simmering tensions between the two countries have escalated. On Saturday, Erdogan said that he was "saddened" by the incident but refused to apologize. That same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed into law various measures aimed at hurting Turkey economically.

And on Monday, Putin raised the ante more by leveling the accusation about secret ISIS-Turkey oil trade.

Erdogan quickly took a slap back at Putin, saying he'll resign if Moscow's claims are proven true and challenging the Russian leader to himself step down if he's in the wrong.

"As soon as such a claim is proved, the nobility of our nation requires (me) to do this," Erdogan said.

Turkish news: Syrian government bought ISIS oil

Turkey insists it's had nothing to do with buying oil from ISIS, but says that's not the case for Syria's government, led by embattled President Bashar al-Assad.

A report from Turkey's semiofficial Anadolu news agency
noted recent comments by German Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Sawsan Chebli saying Tuesday that her country has not seen any solid proof of the Russian claims.

"But what we know, for example, is that the Assad regime has received large amounts of oil from ISIL," said Chebli, using another name for the terrorist group. "We have evidence."

Last week, the U.S. Treasury Department announced sanctionstargeting, among others, George Haswani, "a Syrian businessman who serves as a middleman for oil purchases by the Syrian regime from ISIL."

An Anadolu report pointed to a European Council document from March noting that Haswani "provides support and benefits from" Assad's government through the ISIS oil purchases.

"He also benefits from the regime through favorable treatment including the award of a contract (as a subcontractor) with Stroytransgaz, a major Russian oil company," the document said.

    Assad: Erdogan 'lost his nerve'

Assad and others in his government insist they want to destroy ISIS, not support it monetarily. Their goal is to win the ugly, complicated, years-long civil war, which U.N. humanitarian chief Stephen O'Brien estimated this summer has killed more than 250,000 people, displaced some 7.6 million within Syria and spurred over 4 million to escape to other countries.

In a rare interview Sunday, Assad stood behind one of his few allies in this crisis, Putin. The Syrian President said the warplane shoot-down "has shown the real intention of Erdogan, who, let's say, lost his nerve just because the Russian intervention has changed the balance on the ground."

"So the failure of Erdogan in Syria, the failure of his terrorist groups, means his political demise. So he wants to do anything in order to put obstacles in front of any success," he told a reporter for Czech Television.

The Syrian government has lauded Russian airstrikes for making major inroads against "terrorists." But some in the West questioned if Moscow has exclusively gone after ISIS or has lashed out at others opposing Assad's government, including more moderate factions opposing him.

Erdogan has been among these voices, claiming that ISIS fighters weren't in the part of northern Syria being bombed by Russia when its warplane was shot down but rather that "our brothers and sisters, Turkmen" were there.

Russia's alleged violation of Turkish airspace has been a point of friction in the past.

In early October, Turkey said it intercepted a Russian jet
that violated its airspace. The jet moved away when confronted by Turkish planes, Turkey said. Turkey then delivered a stern warning to the Russian ambassador.

Russia denied any aggressive intent, saying bad weather caused that jet to go off course.

Tensions rise as Russia says it's deploying anti-aircraft missiles to Syria

    U.S. taking Turkey's side

In the bitter debate about where the Russian warplane was flying when it was shot down, the United States has taken Turkey's side.

The available information indicates the warplane was in Turkish airspace, State Department spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau said.

Opinion: Why slain pilot deserves to be honored

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Wednesday that Turkey will seal off the unsecured part of its border with Syria.

He said there is still a 98-kilometer (61-mile) stretch of the border that is not sealed.

The closure is aimed at stopping the movement of illegal oil as well as the flow of foreign fighters from Syria to Turkey.

Kerry also reiterated his country's opposition to Assad remaining in power, while expressing hope that the structure of Syrian government can remain. He said that Washington and its allies want to avoid a collapse of authority like what happened in Iraq after the ouster of Saddam Hussein.

"Our hope and prayer is that indeed Russia and Iran will stay committed to the concept of a transition that really legitimizes governance in Syria in a way that can bring about a ceasefire and in a way that can bring an end to the conflict," Kerry said.

"That is not regime change, that is Assad change."

Oh man, so Turkey is run by a bunch of crooks. No wonder they hate Assad who wouldn't allow such a thing. Russia is right, we need to let them beef up the Assad government, get to the truth of this whole war over there because I don't think the US government is telling US the truth, if it even knows what the truth is to begin with. Is our CIA in cahoots with the crooks in Turkey? It's possible, I suppose. When government become rogue and corrupt, any and everything is possible, if not likely.
