Republican convention causes Democratic panic, Part 1

The Republican National Convention should have encouraged Patriots. A lot of us were not that happy with Romney’s nomination, although we realize that he is miles better than Obama in every way. Similarly, while Patriots recognize that the Republicans are a far better party than the Democrats, on both fiscal and moral issues, we have not been happy with their own big spending in the past or their willingness to appease Democrats. We also remember John McCain’s incredible unwillingness to criticize Obama’s chosen associations with terrorists, Marxists, and racist America-haters, as an accurate foretaste of what was to come. But recent months have been heartening, and Patriots just need to hold the Republicans to their promises.
Paul Ryan, next VPOTUS

One very encouraging move was Governor Romney’s appointment of Paul Ryan as his Vice Presidential candidate. Ryan has strong pro-life and pro-family values, has a good understanding of free-market economics, and knows the facts and figures extremely well. Since Obama was elected, Rep. Ryan has been one of the best proponents for much-needed spending cuts. And see how he destroyed Obamacare concisely and effectively:




Of course, in their usual fashion, Dems made disgusting ads about Ryan pushing old ladies off a cliff. But in reality, not only will Ryan’s plan not affect anyone over 55, but it’s Obamacare that steals a humungous $716 billion from Medicare. Meanwhile, it’s not the over-55 who need to worry, but the under-55 who should be more concerned that there won’t be any money for them after politicians have spent it. This is what Ryan’s plan would fix, using better free market solutions.
At the Convention, Ryan’s rousing speech again hit the Dems where it hurt:
“And the biggest, coldest power play of all in Obamacare came at the expense of the elderly. You see, even with all the hidden taxes to pay for the health care takeover, even with the new law and new taxes on nearly a million small businesses, the planners in Washington still didn’t have enough money; they needed more. They needed hundreds of billions more. So they just took it all away from Medicare, $716 billion funneled out of Medicare by President Obama.”
Ryan also hit Obama hard on his mad spending:
“Back in 2008, candidate Obama called a $10 trillion national debt unpatriotic. Serious talk from what looked like a serious reformer. By his own decisions, President Obama has added more debt than any other president before him. And more than all the troubled governments of Europe combined. One president, one term, $5 trillion in new debt. He created a new bipartisan debt commission. They came back with an urgent report. He thanked them, sent them on their way, and then did exactly nothing.


“Republicans stepped up with good-faith reforms and solutions equal to the problems. How did the president respond? By doing nothing—nothing except to dodge and demagogue the issue.
“So here we are, $16 trillion in debt and still he does nothing. In Europe, massive debts have put entire governments at risk of collapse, and still he does nothing. And all we have heard from this president and his team are attacks on anyone who dares to point out the obvious.”
Ryan also pointed out that he knows what it’s like to grow up poor, losing his father at 16, needing to work in what the Left call “menial jobs”. It will be hard to paint him as being “out of touch”. And his mother Elizabeth needed to re-enter the paid workforce at 50. But she retrained herself, earned a new degree, and started her own business. As Ryan pointed out, they are living proof that America is the land of opportunity where people can pull themselves out of adversity. But Obama is undoing that, as Ryan stated most effectively:
“But we are four years into this presidency. The issue is not the economy that Barack Obama inherited, not the economy as he envisions, but this economy that we are living. College graduates should not have to live out their 20’s in their childhood bedrooms, staring up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can move out and get going with life.”
Both Ryan’s mother and grandmother were helped by Medicare. Paul and his mother, now 78, have also campaigned together, a smart move to counter the Dems’ scare tactics with seniors.
Ryan’s speech had the Democrats even more unhinged. The Democrats’ propaganda wing, the Mainstream Media, went into full attack mode with accusations of “lies”. But there were no lies, or “even misrepresentations or exaggerations.” The actual result was that the self-anointed “fact-checkers” were shown up as the leftist partisan hacks they are.
Ann Romney

Mrs. Romney showed what a classy first lady she will be. A few months ago, Democrat operative Hilary Rosen claimed that Mrs. Romney had “never worked a day in her life.” But for all the demagoguery about a “Republican War on Women”, this was a clear example of the Democrats’ war on mothers who raise their own children rather than have the government do it for them. Mrs. Romney said:
“I read somewhere that Mitt and I have a storybook marriage. Well, let me tell you something. In the storybooks I read, there never were long, long rainy winter afternoons in a house with five boys screaming at once, and those storybooks never seemed to have chapters called M.S. or breast cancer. A storybook marriage? Nope, not at all. What Mitt Romney and I have is a real marriage.”
Now Mitt and Ann have five sons and 18 grandchildren. And unlike the current First Lady, Mrs. Romney has always been proud of her country!

Of course, all of us had our eyes on the Governor’s big speech, as the man to take back the White House from the Marxist-in-Chief. It actually wasn’t that heavy on economics. Reliable free-market defender Lawrence Kudlow asked:
“I do not understand why he did not talk about his 20 percent across-the-board personal tax cut plan that would help the middle class enormously.”
Actually, I think I can understand. Romney picked a determined and knowledgeable spending-cutter in Ryan to show that he was deadly serious about repairing the debt. Also, he knows that Obama has already lost the economic battle—so much so that Mark Halperin from the extremely pro-Democrat Time recently wrote, “Obama can’t win if he can’t swing the conversation away from the economy.” So since the economic issues are in the bag Romney had to blunt the absurd envy-mongering attacks on his personality.
And he did that very well. Not only does he have a great wife and family, but he came from one. His parents were married for 64 years, and his dad left his mom a rose by her bedside every morning. That’s how she found out the day he died, when the rose wasn’t there. Mitt wasn’t always rich either, as he explained from his young married life. And it’s clear from Mrs. Romney that Governor Romney has been personally very generous with time, energy, and money to those in need. This contrasts with leftists who are generous only with other people’s money.
Yet unlike McCain, Romney was firm on Obama’s many failures both domestically and overseas:
“In America we celebrate success, we don’t apologize for success. … President Obama has thrown allies like Israel under the bus, even as he has relaxed sanctions on Castro’s Cuba. He abandoned our friends in Poland by walking away from our missile defense commitments but is eager to give Russia’s President Putin the flexibility he desires, after the election. Under my administration, our friends will see more loyalty, and Mr. Putin will see a little less flexibility and more backbone.”
