Rockies Sweep Into the World Series

DENVER, Oct. 15 — The Colorado Rockies will take a 10-game winning streak and a 21-1 run to the first World Series appearance in the 15-year history of their franchise. Perhaps now fans outside of their region will get to know them.

The Rockies, powered by a three-run homer from Matt Holliday, finished off a four-game sweep of the Arizona Diamondbacks with a 6-4 victory Monday night before 50,213 roaring fans in cool, clear Coors Field to win the National League Championship Series.

But the Rockies will have to spend eight days idle before beginning the Series next Wednesday night against the Cleveland Indians or the Boston Red Sox. Cleveland leads the American League Championship Series by two games to one.

In the celebration in the clubhouse afterward, the rookie shortstop Troy Tulowitzki led children of older players in a clockwise snake dance, circling the big room in front of the lockers and spraying as many beverages as were sprayed his way. Ryan Spilborghs, an outfielder, wore goggles over his eyes.
