Romney 2016: Coulter Says Mitt Strongest on Immigration

Earlier this week on Boston’s WRKO-AM’s The Howie Carr Show, conservative commentator Ann Coulter shocked some conservatives when she said she is making 2012 Republican nominee Mitt Romney her favorite for the 2016 Republican contest.
Last month in an interview on CBS’s Face the Nation, Romney himself ruled out the possibility of a 2016 run and said he was instead focused on who to get behind in that contest. Coulter, however, wishes otherwise.
“Well, don't tell him but I'm planning on giving Mitt Romney a little more time to rest -- flying out, kidnapping him and depriving him of sleep, food and water until he agrees to run again,” she joked to host Howie Carr.
Coulter made her argument by insisting the current list of names of GOP presidential hopefuls are lacking in their stands on the immigration issue, whereas Romney is much stronger.
“I think [Romney] was a fantastic candidate,” Coulter said. “As I've told you before, he would have won by a larger landslide than Ronald Reagan did in 1980 without Teddy Kennedy's immigration bill. And it's basically impossible to beat an incumbent, but he is head and shoulders better than the other candidates we had."
"And I don't want to name them, but I mean you go through the list -- and for one thing, as you and I have discussed, and this is the most important point -- that all of your listeners have to tell all of their friends ‘knock it off with the congressmen or inspirational figures,’" she continued. "It's got to be a governor or a senator, preferably a governor. And, you know, there is a limited world -- a list of who those people are, and they all have problems. None of them are articulate and reasonable, and as good on immigration as Mitt Romney.”
Breitbart News followed up with Coulter about her remarks from Carr’s show on Thursday night. Coulter would not talk on the record about individual candidates out of a reluctance to criticize Republicans until necessary. But compared to some of the names being discussed as hopefuls, she said Romney would rate as the best in a number of categories including immigration, bearing, ability to speak, IQ, family, grasp of the issues, not being captured by Wall Street or some casino mogul, appearance, and “not being a member of the dorkiest white band in America.”
"Now ask yourself if you wouldn't like to run Romney again," Coulter said.
Coulter also noted there would a historical precedent for Romney, both a 2008 and 2012 presidential candidate.
“Reagan ran for president three times,” Coulter added. “Nixon was the losing nominee for president before coming back and winning.”
