Longtime ABC reporter and anchor Sam Donaldson was arrested earlier this month in Delaware for driving under the influence. The 78-year-old was released and is slated to appear in court.
Law enforcement officials in Lewes, Del. pulled Donaldson over for a traffic violation shortly before 8 p.m. on Dec. 1. TMZ reports he had driven onto the shoulder of the road. Police determined that Donaldson had been drinking alcohol, and the journalist then failed a field sobriety test.
After being arrested for a DUI, Donaldson was taken to a police station where he was booked. He was released, but is pending a court appearance. According to reports, Donaldson acted in cooperation with police during the incident and wasn't belligerent, which earns him points in our eyes.
