The Secret Service is looking for a company that can armor five Chevy Suburbans (model years 2011 to 2013) each year for the next three years.

The agency expects to award a firm fixed price indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract to the selected vendor by September 30.

In a solicitation it released on August 14, the Secret Service does not spell out the technical details of the armoring it envisions for each vehicle. It will reserve that information to those prospective contractors who pass the agency’s first hurdle.

The Secret Service is planning a two-phase approach to this project. In phase I, vendors are asked to describe how they will meet the requirement for holding a “Confidential” clearance and how they are capable of performing the required work. Those companies who make the first cut will be provided a detailed statement of work during Phase II and will be asked to explain how they will meet the technical requirements and to submit a price proposal.

Prospective suppliers must submit their Phase I information by August 21. Vendors selected for Phase II will be notified by August 26.

The Secret Service expects to armor a total of 15 Chevy Suburbans during the entire contract period.
