SENATE VOTING TOMORROW on BAILOUT! LETS BLAST EM'!!!!!!

House Rejects Bailout Bill; Wall Street Shudders
    by Dina Temple-Rast

NPR.org, September 29, 2008 · In a shocking defeat that rocked Wall Street, the House of Representatives voted down a $700 billion plan aimed at rescuing banks and unfreezing the world's credit markets.

The news of the 228-205 defeat sent the stock market reeling. The Dow Jones industrial average recorded its biggest closing point drop in history, closing down 777.68 points — or nearly 7 percent — to 10,365.45.

Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson spoke to reporters at the White House after a discussion with President Bush aimed at mapping out the way forward. He said he would keep working to get a bill. "We need to work as quickly as possible," Paulson said. "We need to get something done. We need to put something back together that works."

Market analysts said Paulson and the Bush administration more generally were at least partially to blame for stirring up the sturm und drang that ended with Monday's stock market plunge.

The Bush economic team has been saying for weeks that the financial world as we know it would end if a rescue plan was not put in place in short order. So when the bill failed in the House, investors naturally ran for the closest exits. For all his doom-casting after the vote, Paulson did inject a faint note of confidence. He said the banking system so far "has been holding up very well, considering all of the pressures."

    Trying Again

President Bush, with mere months left in office, had staked what little political capital he has left on passage of the bill. He looked a little shell-shocked after the vote.

"I'm disappointed in the vote by the United States Congress on the economic recovery plan," the president said from the Oval Office. "We will work with leaders of Congress on a way forward." House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was just as adamant that the vote "cannot stand."

Instead of adjourning for the year, House leaders say they'll reconvene on Thursday. Sen. Christopher Dodd (D-CT) said that "things need to cool down a little bit" before lawmakers could start resurrecting their financial bailout effort. He said lawmakers needed to settle in and digest what had happened and then move forward. Dodd said he was still confident that Congress would pass a bailout bill in the end.

"This is not an easy vote; our constituents are not happy about this and rightfully so," said Dodd, predicting that it would take another couple of days to work this out. "As angry as they may be right now, they are going to get a lot angrier — and they should — if we don't act."

What the hell is he thinking. WE said NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO.
Why do they have to act? They are the ones that are suppose to handle the money to begin with and they messed it up. We are telling them we don't want them to act. Why do they continue to think they have to save us from ourselves, like they really know what to do. They haven't a clue and we will get even angryier if they spend our money and it doesn't work. They are idiots.

Finally, Congress stood up and told this awful President -- NO!
NO! to an awful plan. This whole episode smells of deliberate intent to impose something sinister.

It is the way this whole scenario transpired -- when the President, Treasury Dept. and corporate leaders KNEW this was coming -- they TIMED this just before Congress recess to create a big fearmonger crisis that smelled of an aggressive overbear pushover against Congress -- to hurry up, hurry up using a pressure crisis situation as an opportunity to pass extremely harmful centralization of power, government takeover of banks and businesses, uncontrolled authority defiling the U.S. Constitution,etc..

Congress saw the details of this plan (such as an unbelievable handout to ACORN - more pork!! and 5 year promise to get money back to taxpayers (what a joke),etc.) and thankly, rightly rejected it. Congress should not be downcast that this was a failure instead they should be cheering forward declaring that they had a victory! they did what was right! -- because this was an awful piece of legislation and plan contrived in the worst set-up deliberate atmosphere ever!

DON'T believe any of the media spin. The market has lost only 6% of its value compared to 25% of its value in the 1987 crash. The media is doing more fear mongering hype on behalf of their corporate masters. This did not happen because of partisan bickering although Congressmen are playing it off that way to -- you know appease the establishment and their betraying puppet leadership such Reid,Pelosi, McConnell that do what their masters tell them.

However I do sense that Congress can take some positive actions to alleviate the problem to some extent (besides putting all the burden on U.S. taxpayers - Americans). And this needs time and thought to do what is right. Some Congressmen like John Culberson of Texas or certainly Ron Paul suggest things like lowering these Corporates tax burden (corporate or capital gains), have these Corporate criminals and their boards pay out of their private accounts, reduce government spending, cut federal pay, decrease size of government waste, etc. BUT DO NOT say we need to violate the U.S. Constituion - have a totalitarian communist takeover, allow authority by government go unchecked.

Donald Trump came out and said he is glad -- oil is taking a beating -- if these jerks want to complain about not getting their wants then they can go talk to the oil executives and oil speculators who are price gouging and really sucking the life out of this economy.
