Afghan refugee camps in Pakistan: jihad terrorist havens and threats to US

As if America needs more threats to its homeland security, given Islamic State calls for attacks during Ramadan (and beyond), followed up on by Omar Mateen’s jihad massacre in Orlando. Now Pakistan, although still considered a US ally, is housing Afghan refugee camps that are serving as “safe havens for terrorists”, which translates to further bad news for America and its interests.

According to security experts: “Terrorist groups operating from Pakistan and Afghanistan continue to pose a direct threat to the U.S. homeland…..interests include the prevention of conflict between India and Pakistan, which has the potential to go nuclear, and the safety and security of Pakistan’s nuclear weapons.” Plus, “Pakistan is home to a host of terrorist groups that keep the region unstable and contribute to the spread of global terrorism.”

In addition, the Islamic State has been gaining ground in Pakistan (and Afghanistan). Most significant is Pakistan’s significant role in the advancement of global terrorism.

Afghan refugee camps on Pakistani soil are serving as “safe havens for terrorists” due to the unfettered movement of people from Afghanistan into Pakistan, argues a top Pakistani official.

His comments come amid intensifying clashes between Afghan and Pakistani border guards.

“We have re-established our writ over [Pakistan’s] FATA [Federally Administered Tribal Areas], but if [the] Afghan border remains unregulated, our tribal areas can’t stay safe,” declared Sartaj Aziz, an adviser to the Pakistani prime minister on foreign affairs, during an interview with SAMAA TV.

His declaration follows a Pakistani military operation that targeted terrorist hideouts in tribal areas, reports Afghanistan’s TOLO News.

The Pakistani “armed forces destroyed the militants’ infrastructure in tribal areas,” adds Pakistan’s DAWN newspaper….
