Washington, DC – Catholic Charities USA was awarded their first ever federal contract to the tune of $100 million after American Life League broke news that the group is actively supporting the Obama administration's vision for healthcare reform.

The Department of Health and Human Services awarded the contract to Catholic Charities for disaster relief services over a five-year period.

The announcement comes just three days after the organization became embroiled in an ongoing scandal for their campaign in support of the Obama administration's goal of "health care reform now." Current legislation includes tax-subsidized abortion and rationed care for the sick and elderly.

The campaign includes action alerts to supporters as well as a promotional video featuring President Obama rallying Congress to pass his health legislation.

Catholic Charities lost items for refugees
    Courier-Journal staff • August 6, 2009

Dozens of pieces of donated furniture and thousands of clothing and linen items waiting for placement in the homes of incoming refugees were destroyed by floodwaters that struck a basement storage area used by Catholic Charities on Fourth Street.

The organization lost about a dozen beds, 45 sofas, 15 living-room chairs, eight vacuums, four cribs, four televisions, six computers, six to eight dressers and about 15 mirrors, according to Chris Clements of Catholic Charities' Migration and Refugee Services.

Also lost were thousands of sheets, blankets and clothing articles, many of those school uniforms being prepared for an upcoming school-supply giveaway for refugee children, he said.

The storage area is in the 2900 block of Fourth Street, between other hard-hit institutions such as Churchill Downs and the University of Louisville.
