Proven Bribery: Investment Firms Gave 78% More to Congressmen Who Voted for Bail-outs

In order to prove bribery one must show a quid pro quo. MAPLight.org has done the yoeman's work of uncovering exactly the relationships between money taken in by congressmen and how they vote. It has generally been assumed that it would be difficult to find an arguable cause-effect relationship, but when one looks at the data, the more it looks like case closed.

MAPLight discovered that security brokers and investment companies, who lost billions in the sub-prime crisis, gave an average of 78% more to congressmen who voted "yes" on the TARP bank bailouts than to those who voted "no" ($25,831 vs. $14,544.)

This kind of evidence could probably stand up in a court of law in a RICO case. Statistical analysis would show the chances of this correlation being coincidence to be nil.

TARP is only the highest profile of the bailouts of banks and financial institutions which are projected to cost the taxpayers up to $23 trillion, according to Neil Barofsky, former Special Inspector General for TARP Programs, who Glenn Greenwald once called “easily one of the most impressive and courageous political officials in Washington.” The bailouts began under the Bush administration and continue under Barack O'Bailout, who said in a joint statement with Republican candidate John McCain during the 2008 presidential campaign, on the eve of the TARP vote:

"Now is a time to come together -- Democrats and Republicans -- in a spirit of cooperation for the sake of the American people."
$23 trillion is the equivalent of five yearly federal budgets, or $50,000 for every man, woman, and child in America. For a family of four this would mean $200,000, which would all but eliminate the tax liability of most middle class families over ten years, were this federal expenditure to be applied this way.

Of course it is all funny money, borrowed from China and paid back in currency-devaluing Federal Reserve notes printed from thin air, but bank shareholders use it to buy real assets, like foreclosed homes, for a song.

Florida attorney and popular blogger Roy Oppenheim said about Barofsky:

The government official who recently left office over the housing crisis is someone who actually fought for the people instead of laying the groundwork for a cushy job awaiting him in the private sector...
Barofsky himself said to congress before he was forced out of his job:

“Two and a half years ago, Congress passed the legislation that bailed out the country’s banks. The government has declared its mission accomplished, calling the program remarkably effective ‘by any objective measure.’ On my last day as the special inspector general of the bailout program, I regret to say that I strongly disagree."
Below is the list of congressmen who voted "yes" on TARP and took on average 78% more from investment houses than those who voted "no." (Senate vote here, an average of 81% more)

Combine with the list of senators and representatives who voted for NDAA (House here,Senate here), and you've got a pretty good list of the critters who need to lose their jobs.

Current statistical societal indicators clearly demonstrate that a strategic attack has been launched and an analysis of current governmental policies prove that conditions for 99% of Americans will continue to deteriorate. The Economic Elite have engineered a financial coup and have brought war to our doorstep… and make no mistake, they have launched a war to eliminate the US middle class.” - David DeGraw, founder of Occupy Wall Street and author of “The Economic Elite Vs. The People of the United States.”

I think the off the bat the best place to send it is as a letter to the editor of your local newspapers, they really hate that and it softens them up for an election challenge. Challenge them in the letter to not take money from the bankers and you can work it into an ongoing campaign. Even the libs won't like that they are being bought out by bankers so this weakens their support all around (flyers at the Walmart "Rep. Joe Schmoe STILL no answer on money from bankers!")

I think what all these guys really need is someone on the ballot as an alternative, could be anyone really. They aren't likely to be any worse. 10,000 signatures is what it takes in most districts. Wanna be a congressman?
