Man Paralyzed and in a Coma Amid Debate Over Who Was Really at Fault in Viral Road Rage Incident Between SUV Driver and Bikers (Poll)

    Oct. 1, 2013 8:45pm Oliver Darcy

TheBlaze’s Jason Howerton contributed to this report.

A biker involved in Sunday’s road rage incident is paralyzed and in a coma after he was struck by the black Range Rover involved in the shocking episode.
As TheBlaze previously reported, the driver, 33-year-old Alexian Lien, reportedly collided with one of the bikers on the highway, sparking a rage-fueled episode that quickly got out of control.
The bikers, apparently furious about the collision, went after the driver of the SUV and reportedly started to slash his tires. Lien, who had his wife and young child in the car, “barreled through three of the bikers to get away,” CBS Boston reports.
However, the bikers continued to pursue the driver. They eventually caught up to him, smashed his window, pulled him from the car and beat him in front of his wife and child. Video of the incident has gone viral and has sparked a contentious debate over whether the dad was wrong or just trying to protect his family.
Edwin Mieses’ wife, Dayana, told local CBS affiliate WBZ-TV the driver of the SUV, 33-year-old Alexian Lien, should be punished for what he did.
“This man needs to know he hurt someone,” she said. “That man paralyzed my husband. He needs to pay for what he did.”

Stunning footage uploaded to YouTube Sunday showed Lien plowing into a group of bikers after they allegedly started damaging the driver’s vehicle following an accident. The video shows the bikers pursuing Lien after he struck the bikers.
Police said they will not file charges against Lien.

On Tuesday, Mieses’ family reacted to the news that Lien would face no charges.
“It’s not going to bring my son’s legs back because he won’t walk again,” said Santiago. “But justice has to be served with this gentleman who did this to my son.”
Police have filed a litany charges against one of the bikers, Christopher Cruz, 28.
    Watch the shocking footage below:
An individual claiming to be related to Mieses has created a Facebook page entitled “Justice for Jay Meezee” and alleges Lien is guilty of “obvious attempted manslaughter.”
“Please realize that we are NOT about revenge or violence,” reads a post on the page. “We just want the media to stop polishing this heartless act and saying there were NO INJURIES.”
“I just want the TRUTH to be told in the news!” reads another post.
Attempts made by TheBlaze to reach both Lien and Mieses’ family were unsuccessful.

Two wrongs don't make a right, but let me ask this what was the purpose of those hooligans starting this with the driver of that Road Ranger to begin with, that can be answered many ways can't it...
But the first thing that comes to my mind is this, that man was defending his family and himself, what would you do????

Tragic for the young injured man. Such a waste of life.

Let this a lesson though to those like him who are emboldened in believing they can randomly pick innocent people and harass them for no cause other than just to flaunt their ignorance.

The dad was 100% in the right, and is himself very fortunate to be alive at the hands of this raging mob.

The Lawrence motor*cyclist struck and paralyzed as a desperate SUV driver tried to escape the rage of other bikers in New York on Sunday has a six-page criminal record that began at age 12 with a negligent driving charge and includes jail time for drugs, guns, resisting arrest and other convictions, according to court records.
Edwin Mieses, 32, never got a driver’s license in the Bay State, the Registry of Motor Vehicles said, but he was frequently nabbed behind the wheel, and even sentenced to jail for driving without a license, court records show. Mieses has a pending case out of Lawrence District Court for driving suspended, subsequent offense, said Carrie Kimball Monihan, spokeswoman for the Essex County District Attorney’s Office. Mieses also has 15 guilty findings for criminal offenses including distribution of cocaine, possession of a firearm without a permit, knowingly receiving stolen property, resisting arrest and several motor vehicle violations, court records show.
Mieses was sentenced to jail in 2004 for distribution of cocaine, in 2001 for operating without a license, in 2000 for possession of a firearm, and in 1999 for possession of marijuana, receiving stolen property, destruction of property and attaching plates, according to court records.
    Also in today's Boston Herald:

Attempts yesterday to reach Mieses’ girlfriend, mother, father and lawyer were unsuccessful.
A Facebook page called “Justice for Jay Meezee” says Mieses was paralyzed after he was run over and remains hospitalized. Mieses has been identified by The Associated Press and other media outlets as the biker who was run over.
The confrontation spiraled from a minor crash between a motorbike and the SUV. A biker’s helmet video showed one biker smashing SUV driver Alexian Lien’s window with his helmet, pulling him out and beating him. Lien’s wife, in the SUV with their child, said yesterday they feared for their lives.

This bikers father the Rev. Edwin Mieses also has a criminal record which includes being convicted of rioting and looting in 1984. He conducts services to a congregation composed mostly of illegal aliens in Hazleton, Pennsylvania. Rev. Edwin Mieses has campaigned as a volunteer and organizer against Lou Barletta.
