Pro-Trump Congressman: It Doesn't Make Sense That Assad Would Use Gas

Pro-Trump Congressman: It Doesn’t Make Sense That Assad Would Use Gas

    April 11, 2018

Rep. Thomas Massie (R-KY), one of President Donald Trump’s biggest supporters in Congress, took to Twitter on Wednesday to drop some logic regarding the situation in Syria.

As the establishment begins to bang the drums of war, Massie is having no part of it.

“Interview from one year ago – still applies. It doesn’t make sense that Assad would use gas, immediately after @realDonaldTrump announced we would pull troops out of Syria. Assad knows a gas attack would provoke US military involvement against his government,” Massie tweeted with a video of an interview he did with CNN last year.

Massie also asserted that Trump does not have the constitutional authority to attack a sovereign country without approval of Congress if our country is not in imminent danger.

At least one other pertinent and timely question: does @realDonaldTrumphave the constitutional authority to attack a sovereign country without approval of Congress if our country is not in imminent danger? Answer: No.

The congressman also retweeted a thread by Rep. Justin Amash and called it a “tactical strike on the neocon #fakenews that’s been rampant today on twitter.”

There is No congressional authorization to strike the government of Syria. #Constitution

Massie also retweeted Tucker Carlson’s monologue questioning the narrative being used to sway public opinion to support a war.

“All the geniuses tell us that Assad killed those children. But do they really know that? Of course, they don’t really know that, they’re making it up. They have no real idea what happened. Actually, both sides in the Syrian Civil War possess chemical weapons. How would it benefit Assad, from using chlorine gas last weekend?” Carlson asked during his phenomenal takedown of the absurdity surrounding the official narrative.

The host argued that there are currently horrific things taking place all over the globe, yet when carried out by our allies we turn a blind eye.

“There is a devastating famine killing children in Yemen right now Saudis are causing that. Should we drop tomahawks on Riyadh in response? Not until it’s on YouTube apparently. When you conduct foreign policy by viral video, pictures are essential,” Carlson said mockingly.

Carlson and Massie’s sentiments are shared by most of Trump’s biggest supporters on social media.

“Before Trump was President, he posted tweets echoing similar sentiments as Massie and Amash. Trump called for a lawful declaration of war by Congress and largely warned against action in Syria,” the Liberty Conservative noted.

Thank you, a voice of reason. Please listen, Mr. President. You may have already figured this out, but in case not, please listen.

Assad is ‘evil, beyond brutal, not rational,’ US State Department says

Spokeswoman Victoria Nuland sounds off on Syrian president

Syrian President Bashar Assad is “evil,” “inhumane” and unfit to rule, the US State Department spokeswoman said Monday, heaping invective on the Syrian dictator.

“He certainly should leave power. He is beyond brutal. It is inhumane what he has done to his own people,” Victoria Nuland said a day after Assad delivered a defiant speech regarding the war between his troops and rebels seeking to overthrow the dictator.

Asked whether the State Department considered Assad a “rational actor,” Nuland answered, “I don’t think anybody who has – is guilty of the kinds of crimes against your own people that he’s guilty of can be considered rational by any human sense of the word.”

Nuland said Assad’s government “bears fundamental responsibility, which speaks to the completely callous attitude that he took in this speech, just completely ignoring the fact that at any moment he could silence his own guns and that would completely change the situation on the ground.”

The whole Middle East is brutal and NOT rational!

Stay out of it! Do not bring their people here and send the refugees back!

It is up to them to fight their civil wars, pay for it and solve their own problems.

Do we fight their wars another 100 years? NO NO NO!

    NOW REBUILD AMERICA !

Assad is not our problem. If you don't want to die an "inhumane" death in a war, don't start one. I'm sick to death of these hypocrites and their civil wars they want someone else to fight for them and pay for.

Now get out of Syria and bring our troops home. We're done with this crap.
