    Pennsylvania Bridge Collapses

    Pennsylvania Bridge Collapses
    Friday, December 7, 2007 3:00 AM

DYSART, Pa. -- A 116-year-old bridge collapsed shortly after a snow plow crossed it Thursday night, prompting closure of a rural road but causing no injuries, an official said.

The 103-foot-long steel truss bridge fell around 9:20 p.m. Thursday, said PennDOT spokesman Rich Kirkpatrick. Details about the cause and nature of the collapse or the condition of the bridge were not immediately available, he said.

The single-lane bridge was located along state Route 1012 between the intersections with Route 53 in Clearfield Township and First Street in Dean Township. Officials closed that section of the road to traffic and opened a 9-mile detour.

"It's a relatively low-traffic route," Kirkpatrick said. "There was nothing on the bridge when it went down."

PennDOT said in a statement that it will start an immediate investigation into the cause of the collapse. The bridge was built in 1891 and was used by about 270 vehicles daily.

Yep... lets divert money from our Federal DOT for the Mexico to Canada Trans corridor while our 80,000 bridge is the US are in bad need of repair.

It's time for congressional hearings on this matter and time for Impeachment trials to follow.

Not one more American needs to die because of Bush's vision of a North American Union.

It's so nice to know that while our infrastructure is falling down around our ears that Bush, under the Security and Prosperity Partnership, is sending Mexico $800 billion to build up their infrastructure.

Do you have any *PROOF* that a large number of bridges (LOL, in a desert country no less) have been destroyed by US actions and NOT repaired?

Sam-I-am, Sorry I didn't word that right. I simply meant that for all the billions we are spending blowing up things in Iraq, we are paying billions more to replace them.
