City Offering Free Land to Stimulate Economy and Growth

LA VILLA – The City of La Villa’s Development Program is looking to give residents land to build homes on.
The program wants people to help contribute to the city by building homes, as long as residents meet a few requirements.
The program was originally started back in the early 2000s but stopped when the city’s water and sewer infrastructure was pushed to capacity by the population.
La Villa City Manager, Arrnie Amaro, says they spent the last four years restoring the city’s infrastructure.
Amaro says they’re ready to begin the housing program again and have space for approximately 20 new homes.
Residents just need to meet requirements such as pre-approved financing and an acceptable floor plan.
“The minimum square footage on these houses is 1,200 square feet, so you have to make sure that you get enough approved financing to meet the minimum construction requirements,” says Amaro.
Amaro estimates the lots will be ready for construction in the next three months.
