There Aren’t Enough U-Hauls For Fleeing Californians...

LOL: There Aren’t Enough U-Hauls for Fleeing Californians

by Will about 7 hours ago

Apparently, so many Californians are now trying to flee their terrible state that there aren’t anywhere near enough U-Haul trailers available in the region.

News on that came from U-Haul itself, which, reporting on general trends from 2021, reported that:
California is 50th and Illinois 49th on the list for the second consecutive year, indicating those states once again witnessed the largest net losses of one-way U-Haul trucks.
[…]California remained the top state for out-migration, but its net loss of U-Haul trucks wasn’t as severe as in 2020. That can be partially attributed to the fact that U-Haul simply ran out of inventory to meet customer demand for outbound equipment.

So many Californians were attempting to leave that U-Haul ran out of trailers; as the account implies, had there been enough inventory, even more Californians would have left without looking back.
Given the chaos in California at the present, it’s no surprise that a massive number of the state’s citizens are leaving.

Between high taxes, ridiculously high home prices, massive levels of crime, high gas prices, and all of California’s many other problems, it’s frankly more surprising that anyone wants to stay.
Similarly unsurprising is the collection of states that U-Haul reports the most people moved to in 2021. In its words:
Texas reclaims the No. 1 growth state status it held from 2016-18. It ranked second to Florida in 2019 and Tennessee in 2020.
“We see a lot of growth coming from the East and West Coast,” said Matt Merrill, U-Haul Area District Vice President of the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex and West Texas. “A lot of people moving here from California (and) New York. We also see a lot of people coming in from the Chicago markets. I think that’s a lot due to the job growth – a lot of opportunity here. The cost of living here is much lower than those areas. Texas is open for business.”
Indiana, Colorado, Maine, Idaho and New Mexico round out the top 10 growth states of 2021 as self-movers target the Southeast, Southwest and Rocky Mountain regions as their destinations of choice.
Texas’s growth is statewide, although some of its biggest gains occurred in the suburbs around the DFW Metroplex. Florida’s gains are equally widespread, with considerable growth south of Orlando and along both coastlines.
Overall moving traffic across Texas increased in 2021, as it did in most states. Arrivals of one-way U-Haul trucks jumped 19% while departures rose 18% over 2020. Arrivals made up 50.2% of all one-way U-Haul traffic last year in Texas.
“The Texas economy is growing fast,” stated Kristina Ramos, U-Haul Company of South Austin president. “With a strong job market and low cost of living, it’s a no brainer. Texas doesn’t have an income tax, so families get more for their money.”
Americans are fleeing the woke coast and heading to free states where they can live well for a reasonable amount. No surprise there, though it’s certainly amusing to watch California’s woes.

So Many People Are Leaving California For Texas That U-Haul Has Run Out Of Trucks

It turns out freedom is pretty popular.

People are fleeing California for Texas in droves and the reasons should be pretty obvious. Texas is a free state with a booming economy, open schools and reasonable COVID measures.
California is COVID crazy-land, high taxes, and tons of regulations.
So many people are leaving California that U-Haul can’t keep up with demand.
    Breitbart News reports:
Report: Californians Leaving for Texas So Rapidly, U-Haul Ran Out of Trucks

A recent report from U-Haul revealed migration to southern states has continued and Texas was the top destination for those moving.
“California and Illinois ranked as the states with the greatest one-way net loss of U-Haul trucks, and most of that traffic appears to have gone to Texas and Florida,” Fox Business reported on Friday.
“So many Californians are leaving the once Golden State that the moving giant says it ran out of wheels for them to rent,” the outlet stated.

Texas was at the top of the list prior to the pandemic in 2016 and 2018, but fell to Florida in 2019 and Tennessee the next year. Now, it has retaken top place.
California’s net loss was not as bad as in 2020, but U-Haul said that was partly because the company “simply ran out of inventory to meet customer demand for outbound equipment.”
