JAMUL – Sheriff's deputies are investigating a suspicious fire at a Mexican restaurant as a hate crime.
Mariachi's Mexican Bar and Grill on Campo Road near Aurora Vista Drive sustained about $10,000 in damage after it was doused with gasoline and set ablaze late Monday night, sheriff's Lt. Edna Ito said.

The arsonist broke a window just before midnight and spray-painted profanities about Mexicans on the front and side walls in red paint, Ito said.
