Trump calls out Sessions over FBI lawyer Lisa Page's no-show at Congress

Trump calls out Sessions over FBI lawyer Lisa Page's no-show at Congress

By Lukas Mikelionis | Fox News

President Trump in an early morning tweet Thursday nudged Attorney General Jeff Sessions to act over FBI lawyer Lisa Page’s refusal to comply with subpoena and testify before Congress.

“As I head out to a very important NATO meeting, I see that FBI Lover/Agent Lisa Page is dodging a Subpoena & is refusing to show up and testify,” Trump tweeted early Thursday morning.

He continued, “What can she possibly say about her statements and lies. So much corruption on the other side. Where is the Attorney General?”

Sessions has been the target of Trump in the past. The presiden slammed him for recusing himself from the Russia-collusion investigation and for his “weak position” on former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton’s “crimes.”

“The Russian Witch Hunt Hoax continues, all because Jeff Sessions didn’t tell me he was going to recuse himself...I would have quickly picked someone else. So much time and money wasted, so many lives ruined...and Sessions knew better than most that there was No Collusion!” Trump tweeted last month.

Trump also aired out his frustration with Sessions’ lack of fervor in tackling allegations of government surveillance abuse, calling out his “disgraceful” decision to instruct the Department of Justice's inspector general to probe the allegations.

“Why is A.G. Jeff Sessions asking the Inspector General to investigate potentially massive FISA abuse. Will take forever, has no prosecutorial power and already late with reports on Comey etc. Isn’t the I.G. an Obama guy? Why not use Justice Department lawyers? DISGRACEFUL!” Trump tweeted.

Trump’s remarks came as Page defied a subpoena to appear on Wednesday before the House Judiciary and Oversight and Government Reform Committees, even as her lawyer claims she “will cooperate with this investigation.”

The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Rep. Bob Goodlatte said Wednesday that U.S. Marshals were called in to serve Page with a subpoena to testify and accused her of “apparently” having “something to hide.”

Attorney Amy Jeffress told Fox News that Page didn’t testify on Wednesday as they didn’t have enough time to prepare, noting that she would ask lawmakers to schedule another date for the interview behind closed doors.

Members of Congress seek to grill Page regarding about her anti-Trump text messages with embattled FBI agent Peter Strzok, with whom she had an affair. Strzok, meanwhile, is set to testify publicly for the first time on Thursday before House Republicans who are investigating bias at the FBI.

We need the names of all the people within the US DOJ who advised Jeff Sessions that he should recuse himself and we need all those names and any and all emails, letters, texts, notes, etc. related to that "advice" as soon as possible. I think Jeff Sessions was duped on this by people who were involved with this Russia Hoax scam to begin with. Sessions wouldn't have known that because who was involved hadn't come out yet.

Sessions needs to round up the list and all communications regarding his recusal and get it over to the House Intelligence Committee pronto. Or better yet, Nunes needs to request it under a subpoena directly from Jeff Sessions.

    Subpeona---No Show

now Goodlatte and Gowdy are threatening Contempt of Congress

Does a finding of contempt result in jail? Or are we still in the strong letter to follow territory?

Jeff Sessions recused himself based on DOJ policy. There is no denying the fact that Sessions was personally involved in Donald Trump's campaign as an adviser. Many of Trump's talking points on immigration came directly from Sessions and Stephen Miller, who was working for Jeff Sessions.

Of course you know all of this. However, your defend Trump at all cost mentality prevents you from comprehending the full scope of the issue.

Trump needs to cease and desist using AG Jeff Sessions as his whipping boy. At this point, the DOJ is not involved in the congressional subpoena of Lisa Page. If the Congress brings charges against Lisa Page, it will then be time for the DOJ to become involved. Until that time, Trump needs to concern himself with the more important issues facing our country.

Mr. President, leave Sessions alone and allow him to continue his efforts on our illegal immigration and asylum issues without all of these mindless and trivial distractions!

Then there shouldn't be any problem producing the names of all those who advised him along with all of their communications on the subject of his recusal from the Russia Hoax.

It doesn't matter who did or didn't advise him on anything to do with the Russian probe because he recused himself based on DOJ policy. Do you deny that he was a part of Trump's campaign? Do you deny that he was considered an adviser to the campaign? Do you deny that his connection to a couple meetings with Russian operatives was brought up in his nomination hearings? Even though the accusations of his connections with Russia were baseless, that doesn't change the perception.

Sessions recused himself from the Russian probe based primarily on DOJ policy. I'm not saying he didn't consider the opinions of others, but his primary motivation came from written policy.

Oh, and as to Trump's constant badgering over Sessions recusal with his comment, "I wouldn't have picked him if I knew he was going to recuse." Well, to that I say Sessions probably didn't know he was going to recuse himself until after the hearings. Sort of difficult to tell someone something you don't even know yourself.
