In ‘Blistering’ Letter, Devin Nunes Accuses DOJ Of Lying About Key Documents Related To Fusion GPS Dossier

In a ‘blistering,’ letter, Rep. Devin Nunes (R-CA) accused the Justice Department Thursday of falsely claiming it was not in possession of key documents in relation to the discredited Fusion GPS dossier.

Daily Caller reports:

“At this point it seems the DOJ and FBI need to be investigating themselves,” Nunes wrote Thursday in a bluntly worded letter to Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein.


Nunes, a California Republican, accused Rosenstein of ignoring a subpoena issued on Aug. 24 for a slew of records related to the dossier, the Democrat-funded report that is central to the allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with Russians during the presidential campaign.


Nunes is asking Rosenstein to produce summaries of all interviews conducted with witnesses and confidential human sources as part of the investigation into the dossier by Jan. 3, next Wednesday.


He is also demanding that Rosenstein set dates for next month for interviews with former DOJ Associate Deputy Attorney General Bruce Ohr, FBI counterintelligence official Peter Strzok, FBI general counsel James Baker, FBI lawyers Lisa Page and Sally Moyer, and the FBI’s congressional liaison, Greg Brower.

Nunes’ letter follows reports that the House Intelligence Committee Chairman ordered congressional investigators to ‘scrub,’ all outstanding documents from the Justice Department two weeks ago.


“Intel Cmte chair Nunes says Hse Intel Cmte will send investigators to DoJ Thursday to do a “scrub” of documents they have pursued since winter. Nunes says if McCabe doesn’t appear next Tuesd, he will move to subpoena him..or potentially hold McCabe in contempt of Congress,” tweeted Fox News’ Chad Pergram.


As The Gateway Pundit‘s Cristina Laila reported, Nunes told Fox News’ Catherine Herridge recently that his investigators have already uncovered evidence of abuse in U.S. government’s surveillance practices.

“I believe there’s evidence that abuses have occurred,” Nunes told Herridge regarding the FISA courts and other surveillance practices.


“We have had an ongoing investigation into DOJ and FBI since mid-summer for both FISA abuse and other matters that we can’t get into too much. But it is very concerning.”

This David Nunes is one of the coolest guys in the US House of Representatives with regards to these oversight issues. Not sure what his other positions are, but on these issues, he is tough, smooth, cool as a cucumber, and relentlessly persistent. Is he one of our guys on immigration?!

Thank you, I see why. He represents the San Joaquin Valley, high agricultural area of California. I like him on these other issues, wish he would come around on immigration votes and stop supporting more foreign worker visas. Maybe now that Trump is in and we're moving in a new direction he'll get on board.

Based on his district constituency, probably zero chance of that happening. Job preservation is an overwhelming motivator for our congress critters.

We'll see.
