As Oscars Host Chris Rock Ends Show Full of Racial Commentary, He Utters a Familiar Three-Word Phrase

Chris Rock ended his turn as the host for the 88th Academy Awards Ceremony on Sunday by proclaiming “Black Lives Matter” as he exited the stage.

As the Oscars’ host, Rock, 51, drew intense speculation and worldwide attention regarding his opening monologue in which he mocked Hollywood for its “racism” during its second year in a row without nominating any minority actors or actresses.

But Rock’s didn’t stop there. As the host made his farewell remarks before exiting the stage, he fired off one more message.

“I wanna invite everybody here to the BET Awards this summer, and I just want to say goodnight, this has been an amazing experience,” Rock said. “Congratulate all the Oscar winners, buy some Girl Scout cookies — Black Lives Matter. Thank you.”
