More Than 1,000 People Have Been Killed by Police in 2014

    Scott Shackford|Dec. 9, 2014 10:55 am

There are no frills to be found at www.killedbypolice.net. The site is just a simple spreadsheet. The information it contains, though, is invaluable. It is a list of every single person documented to have been killed by police in the United States in 2013 and 2014. There are links to a media report for every single death, as well as their names, ages, and when known, sex and race.

The site is so valuable because, as we’ve noted previously, there is no reliable national database for keeping track of the number of people killed by police each year. The FBI tracks homicides by law enforcement officers, but participation is voluntary, and many agencies don’t participate. As I noted last week, Eric Garner’s death at the hands of a New York Police Department won’t show up in the FBI’s statistics for 2014 because the state of New York does not participate in the program.

The FBI’s statistics for 2013 say that law enforcement officers killed 461 people that year. Killedbypolice.net apparently got its start last year. Using their system of monitoring by news report, they have calculated that police actually killed 748 people between May and December. That’s 287 more than the FBI reports for the whole year.

And for 2014, which still has a couple of weeks left, the site has reported 1,029 people have been killed by police. That’s about a 30 percent increase over last year, though with four-month gap at the start of 2013 (measuring 25 percent of the year), it's possible the numbers would be much closer if we had January through April. Even with the FBI’s broken numbers, we know that 2013 marked a two-decade high in killings by police.

Neither the site nor its Facebook page indicates who is responsible for compiling this information, and they’re protecting their identity by hosting the site through GoDaddy. We can’t talk to whoever is responsible for this database about how or why they started it and how much effort it is to keep track of this information. Here is a page for people to submit information to help improve the quality of the database.

The police aren’t what’s wrong about America. The police are one of the last things that’s right about America,” Sheriff Clarke said.

“We have to talk about the violence and who the perpetrators are,” Sheriff Clarke said, arguing that many young black males have “no care whatsoever for their fellow man.”

He argued that the media need to “confront this ugly truth, and talk about it.”

The Game Is Rigged: Why Americans Keep Losing to the Police State

    John Whitehead December 11, 2014

"The truth is that the State is a conspiracy designed not only to exploit, but above all to corrupt its citizens."—Leo Tolstoy

My 7-year-old granddaughter has suddenly developed a keen interest in card games: Go Fish, Crazy Eights, Old Maid, Blackjack, and War. We've fallen into a set pattern now: every time we play, she deals the cards, and I pretend not to see her stacking the deck in her favor. And of course, I always lose.
I don't mind losing to my granddaughter at Old Maid, knowing full well the game is rigged. For now, it's fun and games, and she's winning. Where the rub comes in is knowing that, someday, she'll be old enough to realize that being a citizen in the American police state is much like playing against a stacked deck: you're always going to lose.

The game is rigged, and "we the people" keep getting dealt the same losing hand. Even so, we stay in the game, against all odds, trusting that our luck will change.

The problem, of course, is that luck will not save us. The people dealing the cards—the politicians, the corporations, the judges, the prosecutors, the police, the bureaucrats, the military, the media, etc.—have only one prevailing concern, and that is to maintain their power and control over the country and us.

It really doesn't matter what you call them—the 1%, the elite, the controllers, the masterminds, the shadow government, the police state, the surveillance state, the military industrial complex—so long as you understand that while they are dealing the cards, the deck will always be stacked in their favor.

Incredibly, no matter how many times we see this played out, Americans continue to naively buy into the idea that it's our politics that divide us as a nation. As if there were really a difference between the Democrats and Republicans. As if the policies of George W. Bush were any different from those of Barack Obama. As if we weren't a nation of sheep being fattened for the kill by a ravenous government of wolves.

We're in trouble, folks, and changing the dealer won't save us: it's time to get out of the game.

We have relinquished control of our government to overlords who care nothing for our rights, our dignity or our humanity, and now we're saddled with an authoritarian regime that is deaf to our cries, dumb to our troubles, blind to our needs, and accountable to no one.

Even revelations of wrongdoing amount to little in the way of changes for the better.

For instance, after six years of investigation, 6,000 written pages and $40 million to write a report that will not be released to the public in its entirety, the U.S. Senate has finally concluded that the CIA lied about its torture tactics, failed to acquire any life-saving intelligence, and was more brutal and extensive than previously admitted. This is no revelation. It's a costly sleight of hand intended to distract us from the fact that nothing has changed. We're still a military empire waging endless wars against shadowy enemies, all the while fattening the wallets of the defense contractors for whom war is money.

Same goes for the government's surveillance programs. More than a year after Edward Snowden's revelations dominated news headlines, the government's domestic surveillance programs are just as invasive as ever. In fact, while the nation was distracted by the hubbub over the long-awaited release of the Senate's CIA torture, the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court quietly reauthorized the National Security Agency's surveillance of phone records. This was in response to the Obama administration's request to keep the program alive.

Police misconduct and brutality have been dominating the news headlines for months now, but don't expect any change for the better. In fact, with Obama's blessing, police departments continue to make themselves battle ready with weapons and gear created for the military. Police shootings of unarmed citizens continue with alarming regularity. And grand juries, little more than puppets controlled by state prosecutors, continue to legitimize the police state by absolving police of any wrongdoing.

These grand juries embody everything that's wrong with America today. In an age of secret meetings, secret surveillance, secret laws, secret tribunals and secret courts, the grand jury—which meets secretly, hears secret testimony, and is exposed to only what a prosecutor deems appropriate—has become yet another bureaucratic appendage to a government utterly lacking in transparency, accountability and adherence to the rule of law.

It's a sorry lesson in how a well-intentioned law or program can be perverted, corrupted and used to advance illegitimate purposes. The war on terror, the war on drugs, asset forfeiture schemes, road safety schemes, school zero tolerance policies, eminent domain, private prisons: all of these programs started out as legitimate responses to pressing concerns. However, once you add money and power into the mix, even the most benevolent plans can be put to malevolent purposes.

In this way, the war on terror has become a convenient ruse to justify surveillance of all Americans, to create a suspect society, to expand the military empire, and to allow the president to expand the powers of the Executive Branch to imperial heights.

Under cover of the war on drugs, the nation's police forces have been transformed into extensions of the military, with SWAT team raids carried out on unsuspecting homeowners for the slightest charge, and police officers given carte blanche authority to shoot first and ask questions later.

Asset forfeiture schemes, engineered as a way to strip organized crime syndicates of their ill-gotten wealth, have, in the hands of law enforcement agencies, become corrupt systems aimed at fleecing the citizenry while padding the pockets of the police.

Eminent domain, intended by the founders as a means to build roads and hospitals for the benefit of the general public, has become a handy loophole by which local governments can evict homeowners to make way for costly developments and shopping centers.

Private prisons, touted as an economically savvy solution to cash-strapped states with overcrowded prisons have turned into profit- and quota-driven detention centers that jail Americans guilty of little more than living off the grid, growing vegetable gardens in the front yards, or holding Bible studies in their back yards.

Traffic safety schemes such as automated red light and speed cameras, ostensibly aimed at making the nation's roads safer, have been shown to be thinly disguised road taxes, levying hefty fines on drivers, most of whom would never have been pulled over, let alone ticketed, by an actual police officer.

School zero tolerance policies, a response to a handful of school shootings, have become exercises in folly, turning the schools into quasi-prisons, complete with armed police, metal detectors and lockdowns. The horror stories abound of 4- and 6-year-olds being handcuffed, shackled. and dragged, kicking and screaming, to police headquarters for daring to act like children while at school.

As for grand juries, which were intended to serve as a check on the powers of the police and prosecutors, they have gone from being the citizen's shield against injustice to a weapon in the hands of government agents. A far cry from a people's court, today's grand jury system is so blatantly rigged in favor of the government as to be laughable. Unless, that is, you happen to be one of the growing numbers of Americans betrayed and/or victimized by their own government, in which case, you'll find nothing amusing about the way in which grand juries are used to terrorize the populace all the while covering up police misconduct.

Unfortunately, as I make clear in my book A Government of Wolves: The Emerging American Police State, we're long past the point of simple fixes. The system has grown too large, too corrupt, and too unaccountable. If there's to be any hope for tomorrow, it has to start at the local level, where Americans still have a chance to make their voices heard. Stop buying into the schemes of the elite, stop being distracted by their sleight-of-hands, stop being manipulated into believing that an election will change anything, and stop playing a rigged game where you'll always be the loser.

It's time to change the rules of the game. For that matter, it's time to change the game.

Wisconsin Policeman: “I Stopped Caring Today”

Wisconsin Policeman: "I Stopped Caring Today"

    Read more at http://joeforamerica.com/2014/12/wis...-caring-today/

Today, I stopped caring about my fellow man. I stopped caring about my community, my neighbors, and those I serve. I stopped caring today because a once noble profession has become despised, hated, distrusted, and mostly unwanted.

I stopped caring today because parents refuse to teach their kids right from wrong and blame us when they are caught breaking the law. I stopped caring today because parents tell their little kids to be good or “the police will take you away” embedding a fear from year one. Moms hate us in their schools because we frighten them and remind them of the evil that lurks in the world.

They would rather we stay unseen, but close by if needed, but readily available to “fix their kid.” I stopped caring today because we work to keep our streets safe from mayhem in the form of reckless, drunk, high, or speeding drivers, only to be hated for it, yet hated even more because we didn’t catch the drunk before he killed someone they may know.

Nevertheless, we are just another tool used by government to generate “revenue.” I stopped caring today because Liberals hate the police as we carry guns, scare kids, and take away their drugs. We always kill innocent people with unjust violence. We are called bullies for using a Taser during a fight, but are condemned further for not first tasing the guy who pulls a gun on us.

And if we do have to shoot, we are asked “why didn’t you just shoot the gun out of their hand?” And when one of us is killed by the countless attacks that do happen (but are rarely reported in the mainstream media) the haters say, “Its just part of the job.” I stopped caring today because Conservatives hate us as we are “the Government.” We try to take away their guns, freedoms, and liberty at every turn.

We represent a “Police State” where “jackbooted badge-wearing thugs” randomly attack innocent people without cause or concern for constitutional rights. We are Waco, Ruby Ridge, and Rodney King all rolled into one lone police officer stopping to help change an old lady’s tire. I stopped caring today as no one wants us around, but instantly demands answers, results, arrests, when a crime takes place.

If a crime isn’t solved within the allocated 60 minutes it takes CSI on television, we are inept, incompetent, or covering something up. If we do get “lucky” it was just that and everyone with a Facebook account can post wonderful comments of how “they” would solve the case and how “we” are not nearly as clever.

I stopped caring today because a video of a cop six states away, from a department that you never heard of, screws up and forgets his oath of honor, thus firing up an internet lynch-mob of cop haters even though 99% of us work twice as hard not to end up in the news and to still be “the good guys.” We are “militarized” because we wear body armor and kevlar helmets when shots are fired or rocks thrown at us and carry scary looking rifles even though everyone knows that they are easier to shoot and are more accurate than a handgun or a shotgun.

I stopped caring today because the culture of today’s instantly connected youth is only there to take and never give back. To never accept responsibility for ones actions, but to blame everyone else instead of themselves. To ask “what is in it for me?” versus “what can I do for you?”

To idolize gangsters, thugs, sexually promiscuous behavior, and criminals over hard work, dedication, and achievement. To argue that getting stoned should be a right, yet getting a job or an education is a hassle. To steal verus earn. To hate versus help. Yes, I stopped caring today. But tomorrow, I will put my uniform back on and I will care again.

Lieutenant Daniel Furseth, DeForest, Wisconsin Police Department

Maybe this should have been thought of before, instead of watching fellow offices abuse people and get away with it..Not only get away with it but then go on their wonderful paid vacation at some dead persons expense...Black White or What ever comes in Between makes no difference ..That responsibility was in your hands, now all you can say is you "stopped caring"..We got that, a long time ago!! MY opinion of course!!!

Maybe you should think of this!!! Maybe you need to pick who your protecting!!!!

How is Godlessness Working Out for You America?

    Bradlee Dean 7 hours ago

"Left to himself, man is half beast and half devil."
    -George Whitefield

Just this week, we heard of a grisly killing in Mississippi where Jessica Chambers, 19, went to clean her car and get something to eat. Shortly thereafter, Jessica was found walking down a rural road on fire. Ninety-eight percent of her body was burned except the bottom of her feet. She had been beaten, doused with lighter fluid and set ablaze. She later died in the hospital.

Or just when you think that it could not get any worse we have Gregory Graf shooting and killing his step-daughter, 33-year-old Jessica Padgett, a mother of three. Gregory raped her dead corpse and then buried her in his backyard.

It was reported that Gregory couldn't face the death penalty because Jessica was dead when he abused her sexually. Anyone in their right mind would believe that would be more of a reason to give him the death penalty, but not in America.

Even worse is that the supposed justice system (a 64 billion dollar a year money maker and producer of slave labor) in this country will show more compassion on the criminals than they will the victims.

The American people will stand down and allow those who are supposed to administer justice to aid those that commit such crimes by simply looking the other way when justice should be demanded.

I can hear someone say, "This has been going on for years." True that! But the fact of the matter is that the American people have not put a stop to it. And crimes are becoming more heinous. Why? It's because soft Judges produce hardened criminals. Often time's leniency will encourage the crime (showing mercy to the unrepentant).

Remember that love is the fulfilling of the law. Because you love people at large, it is then a mercy to bring forth judgment because it protects the innocent (Romans 13:. Friends, love worketh no ill (Romans 13:10). Love owes the truth and the truth is what sets men free (John 14:6).

The older I get, the more I understand why God said "An eye for an eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot, Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe (Exodus 21: 24-25)."

I have heard it said that an "eye for an eye" will leave the whole world blind. Nothing could be further from the truth. If you do not want to do the time, then I say don't commit the crime.

We should expect that when a crime is committed, justice will not be delayed.

"And he that killeth any man shall surely be put to death." Leviticus 24:17
Don't say to yourselves that love suggests a softness on crime as if to overlook judgment because of kindness. If that is the case, then love wounds itself by killing justice)

In America, crime is encouraged contrary to God's judgments. The criminal is allotted three crimes to be committed before America's justice system deals with them. You know three strikes and you are out.

Criminals commit the crimes. They are then thrown in jail for 3 square meals a day, education, recreation and all the while the victim is overlooked. All of this takes place on the taxpayers' dime.

What is this nation becoming? I can tell you. It's becoming exactly what God said it would become if it turned its back on Him.

"The wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God." Psalm 9:17

Men also fail to remember that their sins are before a holy and just God, who beholds the "good and the evil" (Proverbs 15:3).
This is the God in whom "all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do (Hebrews 4:13)."

"And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in their cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass." -2 Chronicles 19:10
So, what happens when these commandments are ignored? Take a look around and remember the words of the Lord.

"Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the LORD my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it. Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people." -Deuteronomy 4:5-6

Papers Please! Open Carry Activist Harassed By Police, Officers Fail To Erase Evidence

    Ihre Papiere, bitte!
Americans need to wake up to the fact that these encounters with police aren't isolated incidents. Law enforcement officials all over the nation are being allowed to take the law into their own hands, and they're never held accountable, even when they get caught red handed.

It's time we all admit that law enforcement in general has become an enemy to the Constitution. I'm tired of hearing about how there are still good cops, or that police are getting a bad name because of a few bad apples. On the contrary, this type of thing is systemic throughout all law enforcement, right down to the local police in small towns. It's beyond me how anyone can work for a law enforcement agency and still have the chutzpah to call themselves patriots when even the most basic day-to-day duties of a police officer are in complete opposition to the Bill of Rights.
