Peru police seize cocaine sewn inside live turkeys

LIMA, Peru | Police expecting to find cocaine hidden in a crate holding two live turkeys discovered the drug surgically implanted inside the birds.

Acting on a tip, officers stopped a bus outside Tarapoto, officials said Monday.

Police were puzzled when they didn’t find the cocaine, said Tarapoto’s anti-drug police chief, Otero Gonzalez. They then noticed that the two turkeys were bloated.
